Umm... Sokka mentioned a while back that he was looking for some help in building a large, sea-worthy boat. You know, with a large sail that could even be used out on that ocean! He passed on the project to Brave Vesperia, but we could still use some help. We have experience with building projects, but we've ( Read more... )

brave vesperia, it's work time!

I'd be willing to lend a hand and have some of the experience you are looking for.

[Yeah, but Piers definitely has to do a lot of adapting because his shio is vastly different from a wind based ship, but he likely can do it with the basic knowledge he appears to have.]

I was just as glad to hear of a group wanting to build a ship. I know I can't do it alone.

Y-yeah... I was a bit surprised when I found out there weren't any big boats here yet!

Okay, let's see... [There's a small pause.]

Alright, there we go! I included you into the filter, so you should be able to see the plans for the ship now too!

[And there's a pause as Piers looks them over, they seem easy enough to understand and it looks like he may be able to figure out easily enough how to build the sails just fine as long as he can find out what sort of fabric to use. In fact, it bears some similarity to Lemurian ships, so it's very doable. Looks like he'll be doing some more research in the library to fill in those gaps.]

Looks like a good and solid design that I'll be glad to be a part of building.

Great! [It's all coming together well...]

So, you have an idea what kind of materials we might need?

I do have an idea. What I'm the least sure of is what sort of fabrics would be available here in large enough amounts for something like this. We'd need something sturdy that could hold up to wind and rain and a lot of it.

The other things we'll need the most of is wood and rope. Freshly cut wood is best because once the wood is dried out it becomes brittle and cannot be worked into the curved shapes needed for parts.

[Karol's writing all this down in the journal as Piers notes it, so he may notice the list forming.

plenty of sturdy fabric
freshly cut wood, worked into curved shapes for parts
rope]

Mmhm... Okay, got it! Maybe Raven or Rita'll know about what kind of fabric to use.
