It's time for another catch-up post. And it's almost Easter. I'm thrilled that Doctor Who's first special will be airing on Saturday, though I haven't thought too much about it. I've been a bit caught up in real life, but now...a break for fandom.
First up, the epic spoiler
that the master is returning. Such wonderful, wonderful adoration and love I have for Russell T. Davies right now. Write it well, sir.
I have just read
the interview that Russell and David gave to the Sun Times this evening and it was brilliant. I can just picture them sitting there and having that insane back and forth discussion. They are both so charming and not quite forthcoming, zany yet lovable. A must read.
This interview with the two of them serves as a reminder that this special airing in a few days is the beginning of the end of Doctor Who as we know it. Davies and Tennant will exit leaving us with Moffat and Smith, who I'm sure will bring their own brand of brilliance. But even so, the present Whoniverse will cease to exist. One of the brilliant things about this show is that we are let into the backstage area. We see the making of it in the Confidentials, David's diaries, podcasts, commentaries, etc... This show has made stars of writers, producers, directors, first assistants, sound men and special effects artists. And there are few shows on television that can say that.
And to celebrate all of them I'm posting
erychan86 's tribute "Time of My Life", which she bills as a thank you to the cast and crew of New Who. And I second that. This is a brilliant video. I don't care if you're a fan or not you should watch this. They look like they are having so much fun. If only we all had this much fun on the job.
