My 10 favourite characters on TV
1. List your top ten characters
2. Put all of them in order of your love for them; 10 to 1, 1 being your main fixation.
3. Name the movie/show that they're in.
4. Supply photos for said people.
Hmmmm...Ok. This took some thought and some picture searching. No surprises if you already know what my favorite shows are.
10. Angel - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Yeah, so brooding vampire with a soul had been done before. But somehow Angel managed to capture the angst and personal turmoil beautifully. And he loved Buffy enough to let her go.
9. Amanda - Highlander
Any woman who can survive hundreds of years of sword fights and still practices petty larceny has to be pretty brilliant. And no matter how many girlfriends they kept trying to give MacLeod he kept coming back to Amanda.
8. Rose Tyler - Doctor Who
Rose was brave and fearless and never gave up. She knew what she wanted and she wanted to be with the Doctor. She never begged to go home or whined and cried. And when she declared that she was never going to leave him...she meant it.
7. Jannette - Forever Knight
A bit underused as a character, and totally ruined in the third season when she suddenly became human. But she was brilliant in Seasons 1 & 2. A woman born in the dark ages, able to hold her own with LaCroix and Nick, even to be a unifying force in their "family". She was a strong business woman and knew how to manipulate with the best of them. And she never lost her French accent.
6. Dr. Simon Tam - Firefly
Because he risked his life and his career to rescue his sister. He's a bit unwilling to embrace the outlaw life of Mal and his crew, but they need a doctor and he and River need a home, so he's willing to make the best of it.
5. Lucien LaCroix - Forever Knight
How could you not love a vampire who survived Pompeii and now moonlights as a late night radio DJ. He does have some issues with possessiveness, especially as they relate to his "son" Nicholas, but really all he wants is companionship. And he can recite Lewis Carroll and still manage to sound creepy and foreboding.
4. Methos - Highlander
He survived 5000 years. The oldest immortal. Lovingly known as the "really old guy" by his adoring fans. He's a bit ambiguous in his personality, and has a history of mass murder...hey it was during the iron age, give the guy a break. So "death on a horse" became Adam Pierson, mild mannered watcher. But as he says, just because he doesn't like to fight doesn't mean that he can't. Have I mentioned I like immortal guys with swords.
3. The Master - Doctor Who
Because he's an evil renegade Time Lord with madness in his eyes. Yet he exudes such charm and sensuality as to make him nearly irresistible. And don't forget to say his name or he may kill you with his laser screwdriver.
2. Sam Tyler - Life on Mars
He may be a bit disturbed, but he's still lucid enough to solve murders and be a moral compass. Hey and who can blame him? If you were in a car accident and woke up in 1973 you'd probably react the same way.
