Weekends are bad!!

Mar 11, 2007 14:03

I never thought I'd say that, but that seems to be when I get the most pain these days. Odd, because usually you'd think the stress of work and the ergonomic problem of sitting at a computer all day would cause them during the week.

So March 3-4 and March 10-11 have both been painful weekends, and I see my last post was from the last weekend in February. That's a definite pattern. I remember the February weekend both days were painful, but this weekend and March 3-4 weekend it was just Saturday, for the most part. It could be a few things:

• My body "knows" it can't be too sore at work or I won't get anything done but "home is the place you hang your head."
• I stay up a bit later on the weekends and sleep in a bit later (though usually not by much -- but on Friday (March 9) Will and I stayed out til 2 with a friend! It was lots of fun but I paid for it.
• I have an alcoholic drink (or at most two) on weekend nights. I don't drink at all during the week. Maybe that's enough to make me feel sick.
• I don't eat the same regimented meal on the weekends as I do at work.
• I don't bike 5-10 miles a day on the weekend like I do when I bike to work.

Other observations:
• Saturday this weekend (so, the 10th) I woke up feeling okay even though I had gone to bed feeling pretty bad (after two tequila drinks early in the evening followed by TONS of water right before going to bed to prevent migraine). I woke up OK on the 10th but the pain came later. And at breakfast on the weekends, especially Saturdays, I always get nauseous right before I'm about to eat. Like literally, we're serving up the food and I'll start to feel nauseated. Then I eat and it's ok.
• I am learning towards the idea that sinuses may be responsible for some of my headaches. I'm going to start having soy yogurt instead of dairy. (Though I only eat yogurt during the week, when I typically am not having headaches anymore.)

Conclusions:
I have to remember to have a certain amount of gratitude. I mean, it used to be the inverse was true: I had headaches all throughout the week, and the weekend would often (but not always) be my break from pain. My pain is dramatically decreased from where it was, say, even a year ago. Even less than it was when I worked at the Piedmont Post. Overall, I'm just so happy with my job and my life and I think that has a lot to do with it. It's also better weather here and I'm getting more exercise than any point in my life (except maybe when I did cross country for a year in high school.) Things overall are good: that's why I haven't been posting as regularly, ultimately. That, and I've been working a lot lately.
