Today was a fun day. In the morning, more small pieces of my soul were bought by drug companies. See, when you work in an office, the drug companies send reps to tell you all the new information about their drugs that has come out in the past week and to stock your supply room with free samples. That way you can give the samples to patients that have no drug plan or who are only doing a trial of the med. HOWEVER, they also come with large amounts of free stuff to buy your love:
Coffee from Starbucks (ok, it's stabucks but it's still coffee)
Muffins and scones
Books to keep in my pocket for drug perscribing

A thermos for future coffee.
That was from 5 reps in the total of 2 hours. In the past I've gotten large text books, fancy dinners at french restaurants, free lunches, penlightsand educational CDs. the only thing they really don't give out is Bling-bling.
It's not like I didn't pay for it in the end, though. One of the reps came to tell us of this great new version of a diabetes drug that comes in liquid form instead of a horse-pill. Of course, I had to go and open my big mouth and say: "well, how does it taste?" Cause people won't take the medicine if it tastes like shit. Usually these people carry some kind of placebo with them that someone in the office can try...but not this time. They whipped out a bottle of the real thing and told me to take a taste. I hesitated and looked to my boss for some kind of reprieve...but she nodded her head in the way that said that I had better do it.
As I put that horrifyingly nasty liquor to my tongue, the rep looked expectantly on me to see what I thought. It took all my effort not to spit it back in her face - possibly the nastiest shit I ever tasted. Also, it's an antidiabetes drug, so if I go into a coma later tonight...you all know what happened.
Since my dad's office is close to my work I had lunch with him again today. It's nice to see him more often.
After work I was so exhausted I just fell asleep while watching the Cowboy beebop movie on cable. I still don't know how it ended. I just woke 2 hours ago and hope I can get to sleep.
