“shh” Sue said stroking Dee's hair. “It'll be ok.”
“When? Sue, I think this might be the end!”
“Dee, the end doesnt exist.”
“What about when you die?”
“Oh god! Dee! Please!”
“Whoa! Im not gonna do that!”
“Thank god! And anyway, Im on about relationships”
“What about a 94 year old widowed and alone woman?”
“Dee, Shut up.”
“What?! Im just asking.”
“Just, trust me, you're beautiful, you'll be fine!”
“How dju know?”
Sue shot her a look.
“Oh, right, sorry.”
Before sue had time to reply, her phone started ringing.
“Hello?” She answered.
“Alright Sue, is Dee there?” Noel asked.
Sue put her hand over the microphone and mouthed.
“Its Noel!”
“Dont tell him im here!” Dee mouthed back.
“Uuh, no, she's not.”
“Sue, Im not stupid.”
“Well you clearly are for what you've done.”
“AHA!!! So she is there if you know about it.”
“Noel What The Hell Dju Want?!” Dee yelled.
“Dee, I want you to charge your phone so that I can call you and sort this mess out.”
“Whats the point anymore, all you ever do is go off and flirt with some stupid woman every evening when im not there!”
“Dee, you know thats not true.”
“It is though Noel, apart from when you're on tour, where I never get to see you, then when I do, you're always pissed, and you never take me out. When you do, you flirt with other people! I dont even know why I put up with you!”
“Dee, I only do what I do, because you never let me.”
“Oh you know thats a lie, and what I said 8 years ago, was a complete lie apparently!”
“What?”
“I said, Not Even The Pixies Can Mess This Up, clearly I was wrong, because apparently a pixie had something to do with it.”
“What are you on about?”
“Im on about Pixie! The ugliest one of them all!”
“Oh come off it, that was years ago!”
“Noel, 2 years ago, and last night!!!”
“Dee, im sorry. Alright.”
“No it fucking isnt!!!!”
“Whatever then.”
“Exactly!!! Whatever.” She yelled hanging up.
“Dee...” Sue said walking up to her and bringing her into a tight hug. “Dont worry, time heals all wounds.”
“Im not sure time can heal this one though. I thought we were made for eachother.” She said, beginning to cry.
“Oh Dee, dont cry! Look, why dont we go to bed, and watch a film? Eh?”
“I...alright.”
“What film?”
“a happy one.”
“Y'know what film is meant to be really good?”
“hmm?”
“Ghost Town.”
“Is that that one with Ricky Gervais in it?”
“Yeah, its meant to be funny.”
“Nah.”
“What dju suggest then?”
“uum....St Trinians.”
“Oh, ive seen that!”
“So've I, I love it.”
“Whatever.”
“Pleaseeeee!!!!”
“Fine! But! Im not letting you sing along to all the songs.”
“Damn.”
“Ha!”
xxxx
“Y'know something?” Dee asked half way through.
“hmm?”
“Russell Brand, called me pretty.”
“Dont even bother going there.” Sue warned.
“Why?”
“He's worse then Noel!”
“Maybe, but he's a sweetheart.”
“Thats true.”
Dee turned and faced Sue. “Do you think i'll ever find anyone like Noel?”
Sue turned and faced Dee. “Dee. You've got your whole life ahead of you! Of course you will!”
“Yeah, I s'pose. But....i just thought that me and Noel were meant to be.” She said, her eyes starting to fill with tears again.
“Dee, please dont cry! You know that im here for you. And I always will be.”
“Im sorry, its just...”
“Just what?”
“I dont know.”
“I know what you mean, look, I think we should get some rest.” Sue said getting off the bed. “I've got some old pajamas somewhere, they should fit.”
“Sue, I cannot thank you enough.”
“Dont be silly, you were there for me, im there for you.” She said handing her a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a tshirt.
“Thankyou, really, for everything.” Dee said taking them and heading to go and get ready for the tough night to follow.
