Onward fluffy soldiers...or something like that. Here there be a very drunken Sirius, a bemused Remus, a pointy James, and a lightweight Peter. Title-less, Marauder era, fluffy, G/PG rated. Feedback is given cookies and plenty of love.
He, Sirius Black, of the most illustrious (and bugger them all to hell for being so) and ancient house of Black, was fantastically, stupendously, and quite thoroughly drunk. Drunk in the room spinny, light dancy, limbs fuzzy sort of way and he was pretty sure that even a hangover bigger than Dover was incapable of making this night any less glorious.
“Moony.” He was sprawled on top of an appallingly lumpy couch, appalling lumpy due to the James shaped elbows and knees and other unmentionables that had made their way between Sirius and the actual upholstery.
“Moo-oo-ooo-oooooooony”
From somewhere in the ether that existed beyond his pleasant little cloud of alcohol euphoria came a voice.
“Yes, Pads”
He knew that voice, or at least he thought he did. Yes, perhaps he did know that voice, because if that voice was in the common room then it has to be someone he had at least met.
“Mmmmmmooooony?” That would be nice, if the voice belonged to Remus, because he had the vague sort of memory that he might have been calling for Moony a moment ago. Besides, who else would call him Pads besides James, who was currently breathing hot clouds of sleepy breath against what might be his spine, but since he couldn’t feel it he was hard pressed to be sure. Or perhaps the Wormy one, wassname, Wormtail, but he can’t hold a pint, let alone the Merlin knows how many they’ve had tonight. Moony it is.
“That’s you then Moony.” He sounded rather pleased with himself for having arrived at an answer.
“That it is Pads. What can I do for you, apart from siphon the Firewhiskey from your system, a feat I can assure would be as painful as it is impossible. A sobering potion perhaps. I might….”
“Moony, shut up. “
Remus, who had up until recently been staring, rather bemusedly, at his drunken compatriots from the comfort of the hearth looked up, startled. Sirius continued, blithely unaware that Remus had even reacted.
“V’got somefing…something very im…por...tant... to teeeeeeellllll…..” He trailed off for a moment, seemingly lost in thought. Remus moved closer, until he was sitting on the floor at eye level with Sirius.
Sirius turned and met Remus’ eye, muzzily drunk to astonishingly sober.
“You.” Sirius had long ago been declared master of a tone of voice that perfectly combined shock and confusion. When delivered with The Look of Great Innocence it was a rather powerful weapon against the likes of McGonagall and Dumbledore. It had never before, though, been used on a fellow Marauder.
“Its you. Had something to dell, no, tell YOU.”
There was something in those eyes, Remus thought, something that ought to be outlawed for the things it did to his palms, his belly, and that secret place in his heart, where no one else had left their mark. It was a something, crystal clear even through the clouds of alcohol confusion that made Sirius’ eyes resemble the rain thick clouds before a storm. It was a something that took Remus’ breath away.
“Sirius, what…just…what?”
Sirius lurched suddenly toward him, rolling off of James to settle in Remus’ lap, all awkward limbs and pointy ends, and then…well then it was just perfect. Remus could feel Sirius’ nose nuzzling into that funny, tickly spot right behind his ear. He was about to say something, to perhaps ask what all Sirius meant by this, assuming he was even capable of reasoning out an answer at this point, but suddenly there was Sirius’ breath ghosting over skin already too sensitive, dancing shivers along his spine before nipping back up to settle in his heart, a warm glow, burnished gold against the liquid silver of the moon.
“Love you, Moony. S’important cause I love you.”
Remus looked down, trying to meet Sirius’ eyes. But that would have to wait for morning, because the quicksilver eyes were shuttered, dark lashes heavy against pale cheeks and, across Sirius’ face, a contented smile that Remus had never seen before.
