Because I'm hilariously bored, and prediction threads can get rather boring after a while (or...sooner), here are my own, uh, personal award preferences. And yes, I have these for every year.

Bear in mind, I still need to see Waltz with Bashir, which may crack my top five.

Here are my "nominees" for the very lame category this year of Best Actor in a Supporting Role
:

Emile Hirsch as Cleve Jones in Milk.

More towards the very end of this clip.

Philip Seymour Hoffman as Father Flynn in Doubt.

Kinda long, but kinda amazing.

Anil Kapoor as Prem Kumar in Slumdog Millionaire.

FOX Searchlight has some good clips.

Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight.

Duh

Charlie McDermott for Frozen River

Not great clips of him, but ya know.

And the winner is...(any predictions?)

I so want to be cool and different here, but I can't. He just blew everyone away. The winner is Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.

Recent winners: Javier Bardem - No Country for Old Men, Jack Nicholson - The Departed, Mickey Rourke - Sin City (oh god, I think I have a villain fetish...)

And now for a much better category this year, Best Actress in a Supporting Role
. And the nominees are...

Amy Adams as Sister James in Doubt.

I like Frosty the Snowman!

Penélope Cruz as Maria Elena in Vicky Christina Barcelona.

I'm so glad I found this clip.

Viola Davis as Mrs. Miller in Doubt.

One man is good to my son.

Marisa Tomei as Cassidy in The Wrestler.

Just one beer.

Elsa Zylberstein as Léa in I've Loved You So Long.

A trailer's the best I could do here, too. :(

And the winner is...

The divine Penélope Cruz for my personal favorite performance of the entire year in Vicky Christina Barcelona.

Recent winners: Samantha Morton - Control, Catherine O'Hara - For Your Consideration, Michelle Tratchenberg - Mysterious Skin

Now that those two categories are out of the way as is traditional, I'll go through the small sound awards which simply require YouTube clips, as opposed to the visual awards that will just be accompanied with pictures.

One of the categories I invented myself, Best Voice Work in an Animated Film
(if I see Waltz with Bashir soon and find those more worthy, I'll update this):

Jack Black as Po for Kung Fu Panda.

This is basically what he sounds like.

Ben Burtt as WALL·E/M-O in WALL·E.

Both his characters in some action

Dustin Hoffman as Shifu in Kung Fu Panda.

This was literally the best I could find.

And the winner is...

Ben Burtt (in a third consecutive win this year) as WALL·E/M-O for WALL·E.

Recent winners: Peter O'Toole for Ratatouille, Steve Carell for Over the Hedge, didn't bother in 05 so Holly Hunter for The Incredibles.
