Remus gazed down at the parchment in his hands, only half aware of the phoenix sitting on the back of his chair and apparently reading the letter over his shoulder. Dumbledore had written to ask him to take over the Defense Against the Dark Arts position at Hogwarts and Remus had replied that he would think about it. He'd expected to be left alone until he could think of a suitable reason to say no but Fawkes had appeared again so soon that Remus doubted Dumbledore had waited more than ten minutes to send this message.
Sometimes it can be every bit as damaging to over think than it can be not to think at all.
He wasn't going to be allowed to say no. Clearly, Dumbledore thought it was about time for Remus to get up and live. Remus sighed. He had to admit, as usual, Dumbledore was right.
