Do you want to know what REALLY pisses me off?
The Czech army was willing to fight and was about the same size in 1938 as the German Army. It had excellent border defences. Czechoslovakia was the sixth largest industrial power in Europe and had an extensive armaments industry. At Munich, therefore, Chamberlain not only encouraged Hitler, but also made Germany stronger, because Germany ultimately acquired all Czech military equipment and industrial potential.
The Czechs were willing to fight.
The Soviets were willing to take a stand.
What the hell were they doing??
It.. it.. 60 million people.
60 million people.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is why you stand up to bullies. That is why you don't let anyone take anything through threats or aggression. And when George W. wants to throw his shit around, telling us "You're either with us or against us", I will smack him upside the head.
We should be standing up to that bastard.
Iraq. Afghanistan.
Czechoslovakia. Poland.
Where do we stop drawing parallels and starting drawing a line in the sand?
I love Modern History.
History doesn't repeat itself, people do.
Why do the Belgians stand up, why do the Pole stand up, when the people with the real power sit back and play politician?
