I think that if this week was a test, I passed.
Alright, it was a long weekend - or was it? I can't even remember past Wednesday.
But I had three assessments today, something which has been the highlight of my recent shit-flinging. A maths exam, a modern history presentation and an ancient history essay.
The first and last are done and dusted. The middle one is complete, but I have yet to present to the class. Spent the whole period running around grabbing cables, projectors, laptops and flirting with the lady from special needs.
Anywho, although I did not complete as much work early in this time period as I would have liked, I was supremely confident of about 80-90% in maths, needless to say a healthy mark. And early reports suggest that I've done things in my essay that others have missed or neglected and, while not as confident as maths (and this essay is worth three times the maths' weighting), I am still pleased with the work.
Modern... eh. I did it. I'll nail it in the presentation.
Which brings me to tonight, phase four. Yes, the "All Stars" (as I deem us) have made it through to the quarter finals of debating. Tonight's topic was so horribly disgustingly shite that we spent 10 minutes laughing. I'm surprised that we did as well as we did, but we're just a solidly built team that feeds off the strengths of each other. We're all third speakers, so we all know how to refute well; which helps a great deal. I am the designated third, only because I'm better at dropping subtle humour than the others. Which never hurts to wrap up a case on.
Overall, a successful week. I could have done better, but I perservered and overcame. Note: Subway is suddenly appealing. I guess it takes one meal to ruin something for you - regrettably, the only other time I have had Subway (this is a sub, not cookies) was pretty poor. But now... Chicken strips, melted cheese, lettuce, olives, mayo (the last part I asked for the server's suggestion, she gave and I accepted). It was nice, I thoroughly enjoyed. Health food that tastes nice. Who'd have thunk it.
Oh, and watch this video. It's really great. I love it. Such a convincing argument that I find impossible to defy. Surprised nobody else thought of it.
Completely changed my thinking. That said, I've always considered Global Warming a problem (drought, much?), and am not one of those tools who denies everything (i.e. no Holocaust, no moon landing, no global warming, etc.) but rather accept unless it's obviously to my detriment or am given evidence to the contrary.
http://www.break.com/index/tough-to-argue.html Was gonna finish Dawn of War tonight. Perhaps I'll do that tomorrow. I could use a day off. Only a week left. Not fun.
