yesterday keith and i drove up to new york city to see silverchair at the webster hall. let me just tell you one thing.. new york is freezing :) but it was well worth every second of being cold.. resulting in many trips to starbucks to warm our hands with coffee and use a public bathroom. nyc hates bathrooms and no stores have them, and if they do.. they're "out of order". virgin music store is very cool though.
we waited in line for awhile and when we got into the actual venue we were in awe at the size, this place was pretty spectacular, but no lie it was smaller than the 9:30 club, which we couldn't believe. the first band, the whigs were okay, but everyone was only more concerned at when the clock was going to change to 930 for silverchair to take the stage. before they did they had a noise playing that sounded like a slow heart beat and as they got closer to coming out it was like your heart was pumping so fast.. it was so cool because it felt like your own! it was so amazing because nobody surged the stage when they came out everyone was just real chill and everyone was just as excited as everybody else. they started with "without you" from diorama and went into "emotion sickness" after that, which gave me chills and sounded so perfect. that song is like a master piece in itself. they played a lot off diorama, and some off of neon ballroom and surprised us with freak and the door (!!) off of freak show.. and of course the select few from young modern! my favorite was probably "luv your life" off diorama i think i had a smile on my face the whole time. also with "across the night" the backdrop looked like stars and it was beautiful.. and because this part where daniel sings "yeah lets just get married shoting baby baby babiesss.. ohh you'll never sleep oh, i don't wanna be lonely i just wanna be alone" just makes me shiver haha. his voice is beautiful. then of course i love the new songs for young modern and it makes me anticipate the album even more. for those who care.. heres some songs they played off each album in order from oldest to recent from what i remember..
freak show: the door, freak
neon ballroom: emotion sickness, ana's song (open fire)
diorama: across the night, the greatest view, without you, world upon your shoulders, luv your life, the lever
young modern: straight lines, if you keep losing sleep, young modern, mind reader
& a midnight oil cover.
