It had happened before. Shawn came up with a so-called 'brilliant' idea, then it turned out Gus was to act on it alone.
Shawn cajoled, reasoned, and didn’t shy away from invoking grim images until he got what he wanted.
And what he wanted, in this instance, was in a closet, in a house his father had forbidden him to set foot in 'until he had learned his lesson'.
That was how Gus found himself inside a retired cop’s house, moving stealthily - "Act like a ninja," Shawn had advised, - in search of his friend’s spare helmet - "and try the closet in the hallway."
In full ninja-mode, Gus had successfully tiptoed through the living room and the kitchen, to the hallway. When he pulled the closet door open, a glance told him that every single item it contained would fall on him in the next half-minute.
"Cowabunga, Shawn," he muttered, resigned.
