Raijin's father wanted him to be a warrior. Every day, Raijin was ordered to practice. Instead, he pretended. He twirled his staff and imagined that he was a fire dancer, with drums playing and the ends of the weapon alight. It annoyed Fujin but fooled their father.
Distracted by his imaginary flames, Raijin didn't see the belhemel approach. He couldn't fight it, but Fujin could. She was brutal, vicious. Afraid of becoming like that himself, Raijin kept pretending.
Two years later, he watched helplessly as she did the same thing to their father. At Garden, Raijin became a model combatant.
