This is very cool! I really like that you've completely made this story your own. I can still see the shape of my story (which I honestly had to reread because I'd forgotten that I wrote it), but I like how you've explored John's process of tasting and understanding chakkan oil, just one more alien element that he's going to have to learn and master if he's to survive.

Also, the last line makes me smile. Thanks, remixer!

Neat turnabout on the original. I like this, John learning the pulse pistols and their parts, the chakkan oil, things that he doesn't want to learn, but will have to. I like his awareness of Aeryn, of how she's aware of him, too, and refrains from pushing his luck. *g*

A quiet scene, companionable and a little bit melancholy, since we know what his future holds.

I do like John smelling and then tasting the cartridges, and I like that in this remix you show us exactly why the impulse comes over him. I love the interaction between him and Aeryn.
