'SHADOW PUPPETS' REVIEW

Jul 10, 2007 17:00

Well, I've debated whether to post this…. But here it is anyway!

FIRST, LET ME SAY HOW AWESOME (AND HOT) JAMES LOOKED IN HIS UNDERWEAR!! HE FILLED OUT HIS SHORTS QUITE WELL! HE’S NICELY MUSCLED, DEFINED AND NOT VERY HAIRY. GOOD LEGS TOO! AND WE GET TO SEE MOST OF THEM SINCE HE'S IN BOXER BRIEFS! MY PERFECT 'TYPE' OF GUY. LOL! THE GIRLS LOOKED GREAT IN THEIR SHORT SHORTS TOO.

HERE IS THE QUICK VERSION: If you want more details read on…

THE MOVIE WAS OK; MAYBE EVEN GOOD…AT TIMES! BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER! The sound sucked. I love James’s voice…. The deep timber, that coarseness that is so sexy, he almost purrs. BUT THE SOUND SUCKED SO BAD! James’s voice was flat, as was everyone else’s. Also there was almost no back ground music…which made everything sound weird.

Plus the story has been done so many times (and SO much better) it was very predictable. THE ACTING WAS OK, I guess. The special effects were better that I expected for a movie with such a small budget.

And I guess that was the bug problem…BUDGET…or lack there of. A lot of the things that sucked might have been better if they’d had more money…and time to spend.

SO IT WAS OK. WE’LL ALL BUY THE VIDEO TO WATCH JAMES IN HIS UNDIES…. UM …TO SUPPORT HIM! YEAH, TO SUPPORT JAMES!

OK, here goes the rest...
We went to "OPENING NIGHT" Friday, June 22 - the 7:00pm show. There were a lot of 'Industry people' in the theater. Not just from this movie... but it looked like there were other movie people there to support this movie. Even so, there were only about 150-200 people in the whole theater....it looked pretty empty. (SIDE NOTE: We also went the 7:00pm show on Saturday night and WERE THE ONLY THREE PEOPLE IN THE ENTIRE THEATER!! The 10:00pm movie that night was cancelled. As were ALL of evening showings for the rest of the week. I think, even the matinee showings were eventually cancelled too.)

ANYWAY……Michael Winnick, the Writer and Director welcomed us and introduced the movie. After the movie he also did a Q&A...it was interesting. Sorry, but I can't remember any of the questions. But I did ask that the cast members go up to the front so we could take pictures. I took the pic…but it’s not very good. I’ll post it anyway if some one wants to see. Michael also invited everyone to attend an after party at a near by club/restaurant. We didn't go...bummer huh? My daughter went to the screening with me and had to work very early the next morning. Also, she was kind of bored....

Michael also pointed out and thanked quite a few people that worked on the project. I didn't recognize any of the names or faces....even when they waved or stood up when their names were called out. I only knew Tony Todd, so I can’t be sure of the rest. But I think the following cast members were present.

Jolene Blalock as Kate
Tony Todd as Steve
Marc Winnick as Charlie
Natasha Alam as Amber
Diahnna Nicole Baxter as Stacy
Richard Whiten as Dave
Jennie Ford as Melissa

They were all very nice and laid back. They were friendly and answered any questions that were asked of them. They mingled in the lobby and theater with us... but mostly they were clumped in groups with there friends. I was in the rest room with a couple of the girls and they were pleasant…

All in all, it was a fun night. But I wouldn’t look for “Shadow Puppets” to play in any more theaters…
