So it was pub night. I texted A to pass him something I got for him during the recent BKK trip. And since he had a new job, I figured we'd do some catching up over a few drinks. Along came a friend 12 years my junior asking if he could join while he waited for his friends to come. So we chit chatted a bit.
The friends showed up and after a few polite exchanges, asked me:
"How old are you?" When I said my age, they were like "Wow."
I mused... "Why?"
"Nothing, but you don't look your age (old)."
At that point in time, I can't help but smile. Cos I'd remember being young once. And I'd remember paying compliments like that to people I met who look youthful. Now that I think back, they probably wanted to slap me! And there I was... "wah you look REALLY young leh." blah blah blah.
OMG, to everyone I did that to, claim a drink from me next time at the pub. And yes, the correct reaction to such compliments, was to smile and say thank you like you mean it.
Reality bites and it stings too. LOL.
