New project: Life's little changes

Jun 05, 2012 14:41

I thought I'll sneak a little entry. Just a little update. Life is good. Work is good. Health is good. Except for the bout of flu last week. While I was sick, I made some assessment of LIFE in general. Am I too comfortable? Well perhaps. Maybe not. So I decided that for the later 1/2 of 2012, I decided to introduce a self-improvement project called "Little Changes". Slowly, I will adjust my life for the better in areas I find lacking. No one is perfect no?

I did the SPCA run. Somehow, it didn't occur to me that it was $38. I saw the cute picture and saw the lines "All proceeds go to the shelter." I just clicked and signed up. It was Mac Ritchie, 4.8km and raising money for my furry friends. I have time, I love to run. Not many reasons to refuse. Bonus is I got a few friends to go with me. So it adds to the fun, Turning up on the day itself, I realized how few the numbers are. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Yes it's a fun run. There wasn't even a horn to sound off the race. Just a whistle blow and off we go. Which is a huge contrast compared to the other glamourized runs we have in SG. SCB run, Sundown, Army 1/2, 2Xu, so many! So glam! Good goodie bags, Race chip and medals plus a cool finisher T. Contrary to what people think, I don't actually believe in paying to run. Every year, my run is "sponsored" in a way. Either someone drops out and I just take their bib or it's a birthday present from my friends. I suppose I got to hang up my running shoes some days. I think I will run one last marathon this year and do shorter distances next year onwards. And I think, I will run for charity events, rather than some glamourized sports event. At least, I know my money will be spent on the things I feel is worthwhile.

So there it is, little change #1!

little changes, change#1
