Melbourne - Thursday (Day 6)

Aug 23, 2010 17:51

TB is a good planner. Today was take it easy day. We slept til 10am cos we knew we would be tired fr Mt. Buller. Then made our way to the City Centre to meet D.

I was very excited! Cos this is the Tim Burton exhibition. This was the only 1 activity that I don't wanna miss and  asked TB if he would like to go. Cos I am not too sure if he is a fan. Good-natured TB is ok with that and so was D. Yay!

Of cos, we ended up missing tram stops and had to walk a bit. Which was fine by me cos I don't mind getting lost and seeing buildings and people. As usual I had to open my mouth for help. And eventually we got to federation square. Where we met D.

We apologize for being so late. He waited like an hour for us! Eeeks.

And into the burrow we went! I like Tim Burton's work. Edward Scissorhands was so quirky yet at the same time romantically charming. Beetlegeuse was such a cute movie. And I've always thought no one portrayed Gotham CIty and the Batman Franchise better than Tim Burton. Some would argue that Christopher Nolan did a better job. I can understand why too. But then, haha, look at the Batmobil in Nolan's movies! Eeeks... The exhibition traced Burton's childhood, career and his forray into animation. He is a superb illustrator as can see from many of his artwork. There were costume exhibits, videos and a cute little room for kids to doodle weird looking creatires and stick them on the wall!!! I doodled a character too. It's a pity that there as no camera allowed. =(

I was barely 1/2way but I felt hovering. Haha, TB and D are not fans... so I promptly chop chop finished it off and went off... I could've spend the rest of the day there! I hope they bring it to SG. I'd love to go again! But we had planned shopping and tea! =) I bought a pair of shades. I shd post a pic but I don't have one now. Maybe for later. And we went to have coffee and macarons. My terrible sweet tooth. LOL.

Dinner plans, D brought us to eat "disgustation menu" at Nobu at the crowne. Supposedly fine-dining (to me mean small portions of food arranged nicely and Jiak Buay Ba). But it ended up all quite worth and we had a sumptous meal while chatting over dinner. Such a nice catchup. If you go Melbourne, can try. The Jap food is nice. The raw fish is nice. Not too exicted about the beef though. And it took the longest time! Pics will follow!

This was R&R. Pic will follow later.

Next up. The Great Ocean Road (tomorrow)
