**this is one of those entries that serves as memory jolt when I am old and senile**
Yesterdy was A's birthday. Well, so was CY. I woked up really early and send them a text as opposed to doing the FB wall thing. I like wishing people in private. =) More importantly, it denotes my obstinance to change. Yes I have gradually progress with technology. But it always takes me a longer time. I remembered writing cards when people are using phones. Using phones when they are using pagers. And pagers when others are using cells. And now, its the demise of SMS and the rise of WhatsAPP ( I don't even know what that is) and of course, facebook. It was fun while it lasted. I 1st got my FB account in 2007. Heck I was the 1st few amongst my friends to havea FB account. It was, to me, just another useful phonebook. Like friendster. Nothing I post there is remotely close to who I am. Even I look different in person. What does it matter anyways? People read what they want to and interpret what they feel like. Ok, I sidetracked. Haha.
Yesterday was T's new joint's soft launch. And most of the "camels" were invited. Haha. I worry that we'd contribute to his bottomline.
"What? He's gonna run on deficit since soft launch!" I briefly remarked when told that I was invited.
Met my bestie for lunch. And I must say, I haven't seen him throw BF for while. You know in army, when they say a hungry man is an angry man? I think it is true to some extent. My bestie is one of the most peace-loving and mild-mannered people I know. I have not seen him raised his voice or get angry. Heck, when he gets angry, he doesn't look himself at all! But the waitress deserved it. Bestie's order was forgotten and was offered nothing except a timeframe of when the sandwich is gonna arrived. He simmered when the table next to us was tucking into lunch (they came after us). And so for the 1st time, I learnt.... we can actually NOT pay service charge when we are not given service. Well... not really... at the end of the day whatever cash that can't balanced would be taken up by the staff's salary. But hey, they need to earn their keep right? I've been a wait staff once. So my tolerance level for bad service is very high. There are always situations.... that can't be help. But I believed, more attentiveness in filling up our glasses or even offering a complimentary coffee won't hurt... especially if you forget the order and offered no apologies. The last thing you do is avoid us like plague no? I wonder what she was thinking. So bestie gave it to her when she tally the bill and asked for the shortage.
*bestie peers at the invoice calmly and remarked:-
"This is correct, we are not paying service charge."
"Erm.... ok"
and off she scurried.
We waited for 10 mins. And nothing happened. We got up and walked.
I waited for someone to give chase. I was getting uncomfortable with the mini drama. But bestie has to be appeased... he was badly riled up.
Surprisingly, nothing happened. I'm still quite amazed at that.
Evening was dinner with GGG... but 1st we went around Chinatown looking for tour packages to Egypt and Jordan. And no, I am not part of the group... I'm having exams during that period of travel. And its quite a funny experience. According to GGG, the person melted when I smiled at her. She promptly agreed to check on all the packages we required. All with a smile. But I was sure she was smiling at GGG instead. I just sat there and smile politely when eye contact was made. Hmmm.... does that count as flirting?
And then dinner at this place... Capricci at Tanjong Pagar. It's erm... nice. I am not much of a foodie. But I like the lamb chops. Must try. They have this 39++ promo for 3 course dinner till... end June I think.
www.capricci.com.sg Then off to the party! After the 4th drink, I don't remember much apart from making sure the drivers get sobered up. A brief hi to boyband, intothewild (tks! really, one of my few readers) and saw zenhiao! (sorry, i don't know how to do the fancy hyperlink thing). Who else was from LJ?
