Luke's funeral and visitation were highly emotional and packed to the gills. After the non-denominational celebration of life myself and other friends of his went to a secluded beach (which a friend has dubbed "the secret spot") to cookout, spend some time in the sun laughing, and playing a new game that we invented - beach croquet. It was a really great time and the weather has been perfect. That evening I went out to Luke's cousin's place for a huge party while Aaron crashed because he had to work at 5am. I think Luke would have appreciated the masses celebrating his life with beer and campfire food.
My in-laws are up camping so we've been spending a fair amount of time with them this week, in between all the requisite sadness that goes along with losing a friend. It has been relaxing, as can be witnessed by the 4 pounds I've gained. I have to say, though, that today we did a big hike to Pinnacle Falls. I didn't think I'd make it because of the insane terrain and very long steep inclines (straigh up anyone?), but I proved my sweat-covered, achey, dirty self wrong. And in spite of the back pain, I'm proud of myself. Especially considering I had nasty heartburn this morning and slept less than three hours last night because of someone's snoring. (Come to find out that he's been smoking for probably quite some time, which just gets me going. But what can you do? Fight about it. Yep, tried that.)
Tomorrow I have a half dozen etsy items I need to put together and photograph, along with re-shooting some other pieces. This and church are my sole plans for the day other than kicking back.
I want to see "Julia and Julie". I started reading the blog but then realized that I have far more important things to do - like researching home loan information and filling out the first pieces of what I'm certain will turn into a massive pile of paperwork. We've got a November 30th deadline, people.
On Thursday Mark and Becky arrive and will camp out in our yard in a tent. Rach arrives Friday and will bunk indoors. It's been a very busy summer for visitors, but aren't they all when you live in a place that is gorgeous?
*deep breath* I'm pooped. I'll sleep like a rock tonight. Well, that is IF rocks actually slept.
