So I totally said I would use this journal and then I abandoned it for a year =/ Wow.
Anyways.
I just saw (for the second time =D) what is probably one of my favourite superhero movies. EVER.
HANCOCK.
Wow, just wow. I was actually so impressed. But I know that Hancock has been getting a lot of... well, shall we say sub-par reviews. But here's the thing...
I mean seriously: epic, tragically fated, star cross'd, immortal love? That just screams chick flick XD What more do you want?
But in all honesty, I did love the movie. Which is no surprise really. I love Will Smith. I love superhero movies. I certainly love chick flicks. This is clearly my kind of movie. So yeah ummm, immense spoilers to follow ^__^
I know a lot of people (a lot of the critics, probably) were pretty jarred from the transition from "Hancock-the-grungy-drunken-ass-of-a-superhero" to "Hancock and Wife: the Epic Romance." And I don't really blame them. But for me, it was more of a really well done, shocking, thrilling twist to the plot that just SMACKS you in the face with no warning. That would be Mary throwing Hancock through her living room wall. Not to say that I didn't love the first half of the movie. Even with a scowl of epic proportions on his face, Will Smith still wins me over. He's just so lewd and crude and BAD. But still vulnerable. Damn, why am I such a walking-talking-cliché? =D
And then suddenly we switch gears and the audience is finally putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Hancock and Mary have been on-again, off-again married for like thousands of years. Errr... sorry Ray D= But here's where it really gets tricky. Mary doesn't want to fly back into Hancock's very capable arms. She's made a life for herself as Mrs. Ray Embrey and this is her family. She loves Ray and she couldn't love Erin more, even if she had actually given birth to him. But... here's my question. Even if she remains independant from Hancock... he's her ticket to mortality. Her ONLY ticket to a normal human life... so what can the three of them do?
And this brings us t the real reason that I wanted to take another stab at my LJ account. I WANT HANCOCK FANFIC. The possibilities are endless. Firstly: God, do Mary and Hancock ever make a hot, city-levelling couple! There are simply infite possibilities for interpretation in their relationship. And what about those first 3000 years that we know nothing about? Where do you even begin? ^__^ Secondly: the sexual tension between Hancock and Ray XD We all know it's there. Seriously, Ray has even joked about how he won't let Hancock undress him, meaning that he's thought about it. And of course, thirdly: Hancock/Mary/Ray. Because of the intriguing dilemma which the plot presents them with, for Mary and Ray to have a normal life, Hancock would have to live with them. But if Mary becomes mortal, then so does he, and he can't save the world. Which brings us to one possible conclusion...
Hancock fic is going to be the best thing ever!! =D
So, moving on...
I've actually been feeling a lot more creative lately (which somehow happened after I got my new laptop, don't ask me why) after a creative slump of... oh, let me see... a couple years or so? Anyways, I'd like to give this whole writing fanfic thing another try. And Hancock seems like a pretty good place to start.
