the first week
so i've been down here in philly for over a week now. moving in was crazy. it took a little over 7 hours to get here b/c of traffic but whatever. so, the events on moving day and the two days after...hmmmm....well, we get here all tired out from the ride. the road is so narrow that mike drove the budget truck up on the sidewalk and since it's one way, no one could get through. we go to the door, keys in hand and they don't work! *sigh* so, travis and i busted open our basement window and he climbed in and came up the stairs and unlocked the door for us. (good thing we could see our stuff inside that we sent with rebecca.) so we are all all set to start unloading the truck. we open the door and peeka (beth's cat) had stowed away in the truck, she jumps out so terrified and we grab her and put her in the bathroom. so after we are all moved in we notice little things that are wrong...an outlet doesn't work, lightbulbs are dead, whatever. we can deal with that. so then 2 days later beth and i had just gotten back from getting groceries and i was looking in the freezer for something and noticed it was a little jerky, so i close it and open the fridge and both doors fall clean off!!! we then notice the sink doesn't drain and the garbage disposal doesn't work and the washer doesn't work....god. well, my dad helped with the washer (it was unpluged...don't laugh!) but two guys came over yesterday and fixed the sink and the window so now everything is better, hopefully. anyway, that's been what's happening. the next thing to do is find a job. guess i'll have to venture out in the city by myself tomorrow!
