Just got home from Dragon*Con (and oh, how weird it is to be typing instead of texting) so before I pass out, I thought I'd do the daily post. I'm sure you guys behaved while I was gone...

At the convention this weekend, both Mary and Kate Vernon talked about the isolation of female characters on BSG. Mary said, in reference to whether Laura shared her experience on New Caprica with Bill (Mary's answer was no, that she would have shared the story of the people's suffering on NC, but not necessarily her own) that Laura had led a fairly solitary life, while Kate said that in her opinion, Ellen was always second fiddle to Saul's career and the relationship between Bill and Saul.
Do you think it was an intentional choice of the writers to put the female characters in BSG in situations in which they would lead lives that were fairly isolated, both from other female characters (friendship or otherwise) and also from their significant others? How do you think this differs from the portrayal of male characters and their relationships on the show?
