Hallo friends!
I don't have anything terribly epiphanal to talk about this week. I do however have a bunch of pretty pictures of my week.
I discovered how to (and why I should) actually "develop" my pictures early in the week, so I my pictures should be looking better.
Here's to technology!
DAY 22
I saw this on the mustang someone left at work overnight . There was still frost all over the west side of the car and the front of the car at 8am.
I know all you northerners are like "we've been under 6 feet of snow for a month straight now" but considering how far south I am, I thought this was quite the meteorological achievement.
DAY 23
I got these glasses my senior year of high school. I don't know where the other half of the set is, but I like to think they've been taken care of.
DAY 24
Blackened Chicken and Zuchini Rotelle pasta bake!
Delicious!
DAY 25
I <3 Ikea.
DAY 26
I love this creepy little statue.
DAY 27
Wow. Crayons.
I am having weird depth of field issues.
Je ne comprend pas.
DAY 28 two-fer!
Cake! Actually it's a chocolate torte with chocolate ganache. Made entirely by hand and from almost scratch (i didn't make the chocolate or churn the butter).
I made it using this recipe:
www.joyofbaking.com/ChocolateTorte.html It calls for using a stand mixer, but alas, I do not own one.
I do, however, own two arms, three paddles and one whisk.
It was practically fudge after a night in the fridge and it was practically all devoured before the end of the day. The only reason I think there was anything left was because it was ridiculously rich. It's basically egg, butter and a metric ton of chocolate.
Delicious!!!
I also have a picture of #58: Bake cupcakes/muffins with my Christmas Present 2008 part 1
I got cast iron muffin tins for Christmas so I figured I should try them out!
They are adorable and make tiny muffins.
These are what I like to call "Paloma's Petite Pecan Surprise Coffeecake Muffins". They are basically like coffeecake, with Christmas spices and one pecan on top, but in muffin form. They were pretty good, but a little too airy. Also, I can't seem to dislodge muffins from a pan without destroying them. I haven't tried using cupcake liners/parchment paper, but maybe I really need to butter the shit out of the tins next time.
I also received my first postcard from a German postcrossing.com person today! (This is part of #91: Send a postcard on postcrossing every month)
It's written all in German and I can't read it, but I will translate it and update later. Here is a picture of it:
I can make out that she likes Manga and Anime and Music.
If anyone out there speaks German, let me know!
I didn't get to everything I wanted this week but that's ok.
I am not superwoman.
Maybe if I tell myself this more often it might stick.
I still haven't finished Zen, and I didn't get to an album for the week yet (but I might listen to one tonight).
Work has been pretty monotonous and it's kinda wearing on me.
I can't stop watching Amelie lately. I think my brain is tricking me into believing that if I watch it enough times, I might actually learn French.
What's actually going to happen is I'm going to wake up one morning after go to sleep to this movie and only be able to say omlette du fromage.....
I can't stop listening to Desolation Row either (the Bob Dylan version).
Ah Watchmen, I hope you do not disappoint me.
Well I have big plans for you February, so I hope you are ready.
Goodnight loves,
paloma
