Maybe We Were Better Alone
The moment she entered the flat, she knew he was there. There was no point in running. Irene shut the door behind her and locked it. She could practically hear Sherlock’s footsteps as he walked away, unaware of her danger, and she shivered.
“So glad to finally meet you,” he drawled, stepping out of the shadows of the hallway. “He speaks of no one else.”
“I-” she began, but her voice cracked. “Where is he? What did you do?”
The lights switched on, and she squinted her eyes until they adjusted to the brightness. Jim Moriarty smirked.
“I think it’s best if there was no struggle,” he said in a sing-song tone. His casual demeanor creeped her out; she wasn’t sure if he was in control or completely unhinged. Based on what Sherlock spoke of Moriarty, it was probably both.
“Can’t I ask a few questions myself?” Irene asked, hesitantly taking a step forward. This was aggressive, right? This meant she was taking charge of the situation, by making compromises with the enemy...right?
Moriarty raised his eyebrows, amused. “What are they, sweet? But I would urge you to be quick. I have an appointment in an hour. I do not want to be late.”
Irene let out a shaky breath. “Why me? Why us?”
“I think you know perfectly well. Don’t pretend to be stupid about it, Irene. That’s not what Sherlock Holmes admires about you.” Then Moriarty giggled, actually giggled. “I can’t believe he found you!”
“What?”
“Irene Adler. The only woman to have caught the cold detective’s eye. The only woman he would risk everything for.”
“I think you’ve misinterpreted-”
“That’s not what I admire about you either, Irene,” he snarled.
She swallowed hard. “Where’s Godfrey?”
With the mention of her fiance, Moriarty groaned in annoyance. “I mean, I can see why you like him. He’s certainly a loyal dog, handsome, makes a lot of money. But come on, compared to Sherlock Holmes-”
“You seem to have a little something for Sherlock,” Irene interrupted, tightening her fists to stop herself from quivering so much. “Maybe if you tried talking to him, he’ll come around...”
But she stopped talking, because suddenly Moriarty walked his way towards her until his eyes were mere inches from her own. They were dark and soulless, mocking and amused. She felt his warm hands grasp both her wrists, tightly.
“I think it’s best if there was no struggle,” he repeated, cooing terrifyingly soft. “Don’t you, Irene?”
01. u.r.a. fever. the kills.
Living in a suitcase
Meet a clown, fall in love
Went down to have you over
Going 'round a break up
Take you to a jukebox
That's the situation
Pick you out a number
And that's our arrangement
Go ahead and have her
Go ahead and leave her
You only ever had her
When you were a fever
We are a fever
We are a fever
We ain't born typical
02. girl with one eye. florence + the machine.
She told me not to step on the cracks
I told her not to fuss and relax
Well, her pretty little face stopped me in my tracks
But now she sleeps with one eye open
That's the price she paid
I slipped my hand under her skirt
I said don't worry, it's not gonna hurt
Oh, my reputation's kinda clouded with dirt
That's why you sleep with one eye open
That's the price you paid
03. muscle museum. muse.
Too long trying to resist it
You’ve just gone and missed it
It's escaped your world
Can you see that I am needing
Begging for so much more
Than you could ever give
And I don’t want you to adore me
Don’t want you to ignore me
When it pleases you
And I’ll do it on my own
04. good times gonna come. aqualung.
You came to me from nowhere
With nothing
And no-one
Hold tight, hold tight, hold tight
Goes to show
You never really know
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright
This is just one of those
Lonely night
The good times gonna come
05. love the way you lie. eminem ft. rihanna.
Now I know we said things, did things that we didn't mean
And we fall back into the same patterns, same routine
But your temper's just as bad as mine is
You're the same as me
But when it comes to love you're just as blinded
Baby, please come back
It wasn't you, baby it was me
Maybe our relationship isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens when a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is I love you too much to walk away though
Come inside, pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don't you hear sincerity in my voice when I talk
I told you this is my fault
Look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed, I'll aim my fist at the drywall
Next time. There won't be no next time
I apologize even though I know its lies
I'm tired of the games I just want her back
I know I'm a liar
If she ever tries to fucking leave again
Im'a tie her to the bed and set this house on fire
06. noro. brand new.
Why doesn't anyone in Noro sleep?
Are they all just scared of their dreams?
When they lay down there heads down at night,
What are they haunted by?
Why won't anyone just close their eyes?
Could it hurt them to rest for a while?
Sitting duck
Running out of luck
And I caught up on the train crossing
How are we ever gonna know peace
How will I ever see a life through the tress
I wanna burn down everything we begun
I wanna kill and eat my young
I'm on my way to hell.
07. show you how. the killers.
I gotta tell ya
I'll make it better
But i know there's somethin' I needed to say
When I was out, though
Maybe you were better alone
I know I'll make it home
She told me sweet thang
Run a labour
In your shoes
Touch me 'til I follow in love
I wanna help her
Maybe we were better alone
I wanna show you how
