Application ( Siren's Pull )

Character Information

General
Canon Source: Doctor Who
Canon Format: Television show
Character's Name: Amy Pond
Character's Age: 21/22 (only her birth year is stated so this is a close estimate!)
Conditional: If your character is 13 years of age or under, please clarify how they will be played. N/A

What form will your character's NV take? Just her little red smartphone. It's great for saving the world from aliens.

Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Besides a sharp mind and tongue and a hell of a cricket arm, she's just your average human girl.

Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Dream Reality Warping. In canon, Amy briefly has the ability to "remember" things in her dreams and bring them into existence. This was a result of the crack in her bedroom wall that she grew up exposed to, which had time energy spilling out of it. I wouldn't consider it a canon ability since she hasn't been seen using it since the Series 5 finale and all of the cracks in time have been shut as far as we know.

However, I'd like to play with this ability and make some changes to it. The ability will be a very, very moderate version of reality warping with several limitations as well as take a substantial amount of time to master. Dreams, by their nature, are already impossible to control and rarely make sense, so any changes Amy might make through her dreams would be random and subtle. And they would only be to herself - for example, dreaming about waiting in her garden as a little girl might produce one of her dolls. The other obvious drawback is that the ability can only be tapped into when she's asleep or unconscious, and she is also susceptible to suggestions that might influence her dreams (think of it like a mild form of inception; this actually happens when the Doctor tells her his story while she sleeps, so she will remember him when she wakes up). Also, with dreams, often comes nightmares. The changes could also have negative effects and the loss of something rather than a gain.

There's also the option, if her ability will allow her to, that her nightmares might even produce or fuel the Darkness that plagues the Port at night. Eventually, when she begins to make a connection between her dreams and reality, then she might be able to influence those she has a close relationship with (the more distant her emotions, the harder it would be). And if characters ever wanted to use her ability for a specific plot or to simply have fun with, then I'd be happy to keep up with a permissions post.

Weapons: Amy doesn't normally carry any weapons around, and she won't have any on her at the time either.

update: created in the Port, only basic capabilities.
    Sonic Probe Screwdriver
  • unlocking doors/restraints
  • scanning for lifesigns/monsters/other technology
  • detecting lights/redirecting power source
  • rewiring electronics (limited hacking abilities)
  • boosting electrical signals
  • giving off small electric shocks

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: Amy Pond Wiki

The link covers all of the significant events leading up to Amy's life so far in the first version of reality, which stops at the reboot of the universe.

Point in Canon: Post 5x12 - "The Pandorica Opens" (but during 5x13 "The Big Bang). Amy and the Doctor travel back to Britain 102 AD and find themselves in the middle of a Roman legion. With Stonehenge nearby and mysterious painting of Vincent van Gogh that's presented by River Song, they discover the Pandorica, a prison box of legend, is buried underneath. During this adventure, Amy is reunited with Rory, who had been erased from the universe and recreated as an plastic Roman duplicate. She regained her memories of him, only to have him shoot her; his Auton programming came into play and he could not control his actions. It's revealed that the Doctor's enemies conceived this trap to lock the Doctor inside of the Pandorica.

After a visit from the Doctor in the future, Rory is able to release the Doctor inside of the Pandorica and save Amy (and in turn the universe). The Doctor places Amy in the Pandorica to keep her alive. Rory watches over her for two thousand years until, in 1996, she is resurrected by her younger self. As Amy falls out of the Pandorica, she'll be dropped into the Port!

Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A

Character Personality: Amy Pond is not an ordinary girl. She's the girl who waited most of her life for a magical friend to come whisk her away to the stars. But what Amy will always be is the Scottish girl in an English village. She's an alien (not literally, c'mon). She’s the girl that doesn’t quite fit in it. And she could care less. Yeah, she’s Scottish? What of it? She says what she wants to say and does what she wants to do regardless of what others might think. Her former occupation back in Leadworth - a kissogram - should be enough of an indication of that.

She is feisty and has a wicked sense of humor and occasionally a short temper. She's quick with a quip and is not afraid to tell you exactly what she thinks. No one is above or below her, so she's still going to be fair about her judgments. You just might not like them...

In Leadworth, Amy spent most of her time alone and grew up seeing four psychiatrists. She became very cynical and skeptical as a result. People always told her they would come back, and yet she found herself abandoned - whether it was her aunt, her parents or the Doctor. For her, that was somewhat psychologically damaging, and in a way it still is. It wasn't always immediately apparent (certainly not to herself who refused to believe what others told her), but she was quite a lost soul. Nothing in her life really made sense, but she seemed to be oblivious to it. The pieces were all there, but they didn't exactly match up.

Everything linked back to the crack in her bedroom wall as a little girl. With all that time energy pouring into her head, the Doctor went back to the night she waited for him and he would use her dreams to restart the universe, putting it back the way it should be. But there are some things about Amelia Pond that will never change.

She still has a natural distrust of everyone. Even in regards to the one person who she should trust the most, there are times when she can't. That's why Amy will ask a lot of questions before she puts a good amount of faith into anything. She often puts people through tests. The Doctor had to prove himself when he came back for her by showing her the apple she gave him and practically pleading with her to believe him. Rory is constantly put through "reviews" and forced to keep up with her standards.

Although she does have certain trust issues, Amy is still willing to put her faith in people. Like Rory, someone who had been there when others weren't. (As you can see, he ends up passing most of her "tests.") What guy can top waiting 2,000 years for the girl he loves? As far as the Doctor goes, she is always ready and willing to follow him into the depths of time and space; she's just slowly learning he can't fix everything.

But her questions aren't always accusatory. She is forever curious and forever stubborn - mad and impossible - and that is forever going to get her into trouble. She loves to poke around and meddle into the affairs of others just as much the Doctor, which often makes her the perfect companion. Going off on her own to investigate, or to just have fun, isn't something you will have to ask her twice.

She has a fear of routine and being stuck in one place before seeing all there is to see in the world - in the universe. Her eyes have always been on the sky since she was a little girl. So, she won't let her engagement to Rory be something to tie herself down with. In fact, nothing has really changes about her or her adventurous nature when he's onboard the TARDIS. Though it has proven to expose some of her vulnerabilities - her fear of loss and abandonment as he's had several close calls during their travels.

But despite all that, she manages to keep her head up and solider on.

Think before you act or speak doesn't always apply to Amy. She is the type of girl that if she wants to do something, then she's going to do it with or without permission. She's persistent and won't hold back. Unfortunately, that means she's prone to impulsive and rash decisions. This is apparent after her near-death experience with the Weeping Angels. She was put into the position where she thought she wasn't going to make it home. Adrenaline and emotions ran high and Amy acted on them. Physically. Kissing the Doctor might have been a mistake, but she's only human after all. And she believes in second chances; a single mistake shouldn't be a reason to punish someone.

Yes, Amy's only human, but that's also her biggest strength - to think like a human has gotten her out of more tight spots than you would imagine. Her humanity and empathy allows her to see the good in everyone and everything, if it's there. She's the type that can identity your flaws, but love you for them. Most times. And in that same capacity, she is willing to sacrifice herself. If putting herself on line means saving a lot of people, then she'll do it.

Her emotions are strong, and one of her biggest assets. She cares deeply about anybody close to her, and will defend them to the end. When meeting new people, and she's quick to do so, she's generally friendly and accepting unless given a reason to be otherwise. Then you might want to watch out.

Amy also has the ability to think quickly on her feet. Strokes of genius aren't uncommon for her, even if she doesn't always think of the consequences they might have. She's learned from the Doctor to use her eyes and notice everything. If she's given time to stop and think, then she can accomplish quite a lot. Running from monsters and consistently getting herself into dangerous situations has made her fast.

She's not all fire and sass, although that makes up quite a bit of her personality. Inside, deep down, she is still a child - innocent and scared; she is still the young Amelia Pond who puts faces on apples and draws cartoons of a certain raggedy imaginary friend. One thing has changed though, she has finally become the adventurer she was always meant to be as she travels through time. Her excitement and curiosity knows no bounds now that she has all the time in the world and all of space at her fingertips.

Fearless and brave, she doesn't seem all that fazed when the strange and unusual happen to her. (You have to be when you're battling aliens daily). But it'll still warrant wide eyes and eyebrow raises from her. She's very strong and very independent. She doesn't need to be the damsel in distress because chances are she's the one that will be jumping in there and saving you. Whether it all goes to plan is something that Amy never knows. But it's always worth a try, in her eyes.

She's a "show me, don't tell me" kind of girl, and she wants to be right in the middle of the action. She'll dress up, invade enemy territory, crash a car into a house, steal from lizardmen or pick up a torch and challenge a one-armed Cyberman. Whatever it takes to survive and save universe - an idea she'll never get tired of. Give her a planet and a war over a museum and a textbook any day.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A

Character Plans: Amy will be jumping right in and investigating all she can - the monsters in particular. As the Doctor's companion, she was taught to use her eyes and notice everything, so she'll be doing just that. Otherwise, she'll be settling herself in (as much as it makes her cringe to accept she might be stuck), making allies but always looking for a way back. She has a bit of a problem with authority, so chances are she'll be staying neutral and making her own choices of how to survive in the Port. And of course, there's all the fun and trouble that comes with slowly discovering her abilities.

Appearance/PB: The Orangey Girl.
