Seeking Guest Speaker for 5th/6th-graders on Peru, Guatemala, or Zambia

Feb 08, 2011 10:22

Seth's Social Studies teacher is looking for guest speakers for their unit on "Global Action".  They are studying South America, Central America, and Africa, focusing on Peru, Guatemala, and Zambia.  They are especially looking for people with expertise in those specific countries, but would love to talk to anyone with connections these continents.

They are also interested in having a guest speaker who has experience with international development or NGOs abroad.

The timeslot for guest speakers is Wednesdays from 12 - 1 pm and 1-2 pm.  You would be speaking to four classes of 5th and 6th graders at the Innovation Academy Charter School in Tyngsboro, MA.

Although I have not been to any of these interesting places, I thought there maybe-just-might be someone in my circle of friends (or friends of friends) who has traveled more than I, and would be willing to share their experiences. I would be happy to take you out to lunch before or after :).

You can ask me more questions, or contact Seth's teacher directly -- Sara Krakauer (skrakauer at innovationcharter dot org).
