Hermione Granger? It's good to hear your voice.

Is there some kind of an emergency going on? I was just at home.

Is there a-

Well yes, I would be Hermione, and... I suppose this means that you don't recall having been here before.

Being 'just at home' could be referring to a number of times.

There's no emergency here, just... well, it's all rather complicated. I suppose I should start by asking you the date.

I definitely don't recall having been here before.

July 20th, 1994? Isn't it? An explanation would apparently be prudent.

...that's just wonderful. On one hand, at least you aren't plagued with the knowledge of what happens later on, and yet on the other... there were many conversations that we had while you were here last, all lost now. Making up for lost time is putting it lightly.

I'm sending copies of a guide to this city over to your device; it's a little more advanced than most Muggle technology from our world, but hopefully nothing you can't puzzle out in a couple of minutes.

And actually, I'm from a few years after that time. Nearing four years later, actually. We've been transported to a nexus of sorts. A separate dimension that's been known to pull people from different worlds and times. It would be more fascinating if it wasn't simultaneously distressing.

1998, then? Hold up, Hermione. Have some patience with me.

What device?

Yes, exactly.

...follow the sound of my voice? Perhaps in your pocket, or laying on the ground nearby?

I've got it. A hole in one, Hermione; right in my pocket.

A better record than I've ever had with you in third year, then.

...it should say that you've received a message?

Ah, don't be that way. You're brilliant and I'm aware of it.

It-- there are an awful lot of buttons on this thing.

I'm not asking you to be aware of it, more... along the lines of acknowledging how you presented very real challenges for me in a number of ways.

If you could describe your surroundings instead, I'm sure that I could make my way over to you. Unless you'd rather have Harry try.

So it was a very sneaky compliment. Well, thank you for it.

There's a carousel? Whomever would have a more convenient time getting here. I'm not in any immediate trouble. And it wouldn't be very polite to say that I would rather see one or the other of you more.
