I was researching for and writing my final paper this weekend for class and I dug up a little history on my topic. My topic is the Super Mario Bros. Trilogy for the Nintendo Entertainment System. While doing some research I realized how much the games had changed throughout the series. It is probably fair to say that most people who play(ed) videogames are familiar with Super Mario Bros. It was one of the first games I ever played on NES. A few fun facts that I learned while doing this was 1.) the first game, Super Mario Bros., had only 14 enemies and that includes the non-living ones. 2.) the second game, Super Mario Bros. 2, was based on another videogame already made, called Doki Doki Panic. The only difference was basically inserting Mario characters in place of the originals. It was basically a way to get a sequel out in a quick amount of time. 3.) The third in the trilogy, Super Mario Bros. 3, went right back to the original format, with incredible improvements. The most notable difference is the level layout and power-up options. The player has some control as to which level they would like to play next, and can also use power-ups (i.e. fire flowers, stars, mushrooms) before entering a level. These were just a few fun facts worth looking at for my final paper.
