TEASER
EXT - GRAVESIDE FUNERAL - DAY
PAN over graveyard as FATHER BOONE presides over the funeral holding a captive audience. MOURNERS are either crying softly or standing somber and still.
FATHER BOONE
What a great day it is... That’s what Monica would say, no matter what the
weather was, or what situation she was facing. Though we are greatly saddened
by our loss, we can be comforted knowing Monica is having a great day
in heaven where....
INT - MORGUE - DAY
TRU rushes past DAVIS as goes into the morgue.
DAVIS
Can you please wait a second?
TRU
Save it Davis. I know what you think and I’ve heard all your excuses.
TRU continues inside until she gets to a body lying on the table. THE BODY is an elderly man that has no visible signs of an attack or other means of an unnatural death. TRU frowns as she looks at his face.
DAVIS
Tru, I said I was sorry..
TRU
(snaps)
Sorry doesn’t cut it. You’re supposed to be sorry when you accidentally spill
your drink...not this. This is...it’s -
DAVIS
-It was wrong, I know. (pleading) I am so sorry...
TRU softens slightly.
DAVIS
But, look everything’s fine. Carrie knows now, I can’t change that. I know
she can help us, if you just trust me -
TRU hardens once more.
TRU
Forget it Davis, you had my trust.
TRU turns her attention back to the body.
TRU
He’s not asking so I’m out...
DAVIS
Tru, what about work....
TRU
I told you what I needed when you betrayed me. I’ve got sick time, God knows
I’ve never taken a day off. So, unless a body comes in, there’s no reason for
me to be here.
DAVIS
Tru, I know you need time to think, but don’t you think....
TRU rolls her eyes and ignores him as she heads out the door before DAVIS can get another word in. DAVIS mumbles something under his breath as he watches her leave and walks back towards the body.
EXT - GRAVESIDE FUNERAL - DAY
FATHER BOONE surveys the audience while he holds his bible up to his chest, almost like one would a newborn baby. MOURNERS are still standing silently or crying over their loss.
FATHER BOONE
Truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the Earth and dies, it
remains just a single grain, but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Those who
love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will
keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me, must follow me, and where I
am, there my servant will be also. Whoever serves me, the father
will honor...
INT - MORGUE - DAY
DAVIS is on the onset of prepping the body as CARRIE comes in. DAVIS looks over and smiles at her, though it's weak. CARRIE looks around.
CARRIE
Tru, isn’t here?
DAVIS
N-No, she uh....she took, or she’s taking a few days off.
CARRIE
(feigning surprise)
Oh. Is that wise....with what she can do?
DAVIS
It’s fine, I mean it doesn’t...it, (nervously) It isn’t because I told you or
anything....
CARRIS grins broadly at him and walks over to give him a hug. DAVIS shivers slightly at her touch.
CARRIE
Don’t worry. She’ll come around. I promise.
DAVIS nods slowly.
DAVIS
(unsure)
yeah....
EXT - GRAVESIDE FUNERAL - DAY
FATHER BOONE stares into a gaping hole as the coffin is lowered into the ground and the first patch of dirt is thrown on top of it.
FATHER BOONE
Almighty God, into your hands we commend your daughter Monica in sure and
certain hope of resurrection to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
This body we commit to its resting place:
Earth to Earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust.
Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
Yes, says the Spirit, they will rest from their labors for their deeds to
follow them. Lord, we thank you for those we love but see no more. Receive
into your arms your servant Monica, and grant that increasing in knowledge and
love of you, she may go from strength to strength in service in your heavenly
kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
INT - LAMPANELLI HOUSE - DAY
STEADY as FATHER BOONE walks quietly through the reception area as the MOURNERS gather together for the last time today for the wake. CLOSE of FATHER BOONE'S back as he enters a room where a young boy, CHANCE is sitting alone.
CHANCE
(harshly)
What do you want?
FATHER BOONE
You know very well..
FATHER BOONE walks over and puts his hand on CHANCE'S shuolder giving it a soft squeaze as he does. A faint smile is etched across his features.
FATHER BOONE
What’s wrong Chance? Come now, you can tell me anything
CHANCE
(scared)
F-father Boone...?
FATHER BOONE
Shhh... it’s alright.
FATHER BOONE turns and shuts the door behind them. CLOSE through door as its shut in camera.
BLACK OUT.

BLACK OUT.
ACT ONE
INT TRU'S APARTMENT - EVENING
TRU lets out a long sigh of relief as she enters into her own bedroom carrying a large bowl full of popcorn. JENSON looks up at her from his spot on the the bed and smiles when TRU sits down next to him.
JENSEN
(cheerfully)
So are we ready?
TRU
As I’ll ever be.
JENSEN chuckles and switches on the Tv. CLOSE on a classic horror movie that begins to play.
JENSEN
It’s really nice of Davis to give you that time off.
TRU
He didn’t give it to me....I took it.
JENSEN
Well, then I’m glad you took it.
TRU
Me too...
TRU and JENSEN began to kiss gently. CLOSE on JENSEN'S eyes as they shift in their direction. WIDE of him watching the Tv once more. TRU frowns as he pulls away from her to turn his focus elsewhere. CLOSE on screen. A WOMAN is running down the street. PAN back as TRU giggles and JENSEN chuckles while slinging an arm around her.
TRU
You would think by now women would learn not to run down a dark scary alley
way in heels.
JENSEN
Well, they’re not exactly bright. Not like some women I know.
TRU
(in amusement)
You think I’m bright?
JENSEN opens his mouth to speak but he stares at the tv once more. ONSCREEN we see a woman begins to be murdered. TRU has a look of digust on her face while JESEN holds TRU a little bit tigher. TRU leans in for a kiss but JENSEN squeezes her shoulder just a little bit tighter.
TRU
(in confusion)
Jensen?
JENSEN doesn’t reply and continues to stare in silence hands still squeezing just a little bit harder.
TRU
Jensen!
CLOSE as the scene on TV changes.
JENSEN
Hmm? What....oh sorry.
TRU
A-Are you okay?
JENSEN
(nodding)
I’m fine. I just caught got up in the movie. I remember my dad showing me
this one when I was younger....Why do you ask?
TRU
Oh...I just...
PHONE RINGS O.S. TRU looks back at JENSEN and then goes to answer it.
TRU
(into phone)
Hello? (beat) Fine, I’ll be right there.
TRU turns back towards JENSEN.
TRU
Morgue. Looks like I’m needed.
JENSEN stands up.
JENSEN
I thought you had tonight off? Or took it...whatever.
TRU
I know, but... (shrugs) I’m needed. I’ll be back soon, okay?
JENSEN
Sure, I guess I’ll fine something else to keep me...occupied.
TRU watches him a moment and then quickly pecks him on the cheek. She takes another look back at him staring intently at the screen and then leaves.
INT - STANDARDS ROOM - EVENING
TRU rushes into the room where DAVIS is looking over a body on the autopsy table.
TRU
What is it this time Davis?
DAVIS
A....A male, late forties, early fifties. Single shot to the heart, victim was
found at a wake. He was a..
O.T.S TRU as she looks at the body, though BODY is still blurred in frame.
TRU
Priest?
FATHER BOONE is laying dead on the autopsy table.
TRU
Why would anyone kill a priest?
DAVIS
W-Well, I read about him in the paper. I...I’m surprised you didn’t hear
anything.
TRU
What is it?
DAVIS picks up a paper from a nearby table and hands it to TRU. EXTREME CLOSE on the 'Priest Accused' heading. TRU scans over the paper and then looks at DAVIS.
TRU
He’s...a child molester?
DAVIS
Accused.
FATHER BOONE whips his head to the side to look directly at TRU.
FATHER BOONE
Please...
END ACT OF ONE
BLACK OUT.
ACT TWO
INT - TRU'S BEDROOM - MORNING
TRU wakes up, her eyes open then close as she rolls over on her side. Kicking back the covers, she frowns.
TRU
And I used to think that the investigation was the tough part of the job.
TRU gets out of bed and walks to her dresser. She pulls out a dark tank top and holds it to her chest.
TRU
Nobody ever mentioned the victims.
INT - OFFICE - DAY
MARION ADAMS is holding a notebook of construction paper opened to a page of childish writing. MARION frowns as she hands it back to MS. HOLLY.
MARION
I fail to see where Chance mentions molestation. That section is filled with
his feelings on the pending divorce.
MARION sighs and looks at her watch as MS.HOLLY flips ahead a couple of pages. MS. HOLLY holds up the book and points with her free hand to the middle of the page before giving it over. MARION’s eyes widens she reads.
MS.HOLLY
He really hated Boone. This is good. Very good.
EXT - OUTDOOR CAFE - MORNING
TRU sticks a pink glazed donut in her mouth as she wrestles with the Newspaper dispenser. She manages to get the newspaper out but crinkles it when she puts it under her arm. Looking at her hands she sees they are covered with spots of grease from the dispenser. She turns and sits at a table outside a café. After putting down her paper she attacks her hands with form tissue from her messenger bag.
O.T.S TRU as JACK sits down across from her.
JACK
No, please don’t. Leave the donut. You’re a lot better company when you’re
quiet.
TRU'S eyes narrow and she uses another tissue to hold her donut.
JACK
Besides, pink suits you. That old cliché of the good dying young took a
beating today. This Boone is a textbook example of why the dead should stay
dead. Some people aren’t worth the saving.
TRU
Saving is my job not judging.
JACK
So, those kids weren’t worth saving?
TRU
That is not-
JACK leans forward and grabs her hand.
JACK
He will stay dead and you’ll let it happen.
TRU jerks his and away but doesn’t met his eyes.
EXT - PARK - MORNING
TRU is sitting on a bench reading the newspaper as Harrison walks up.
HARRISON
Is it Davis or Jack?
HARRISON takes a seat.
HARRISON
Wait. Wait. My spider sense tells me its both.
TRU
Yes, but most recently Jack. Spider sense? I knew you shouldn’t have saw that
movie with Davis.
HARRISON
Ok, My ‘Gamblers Assumption’ says it’s a rewind day, too.
TRU
If only you had that luck at the track.
TRU snaps her fingers and looks down at the paper.
TRU
Here’s the victim.
CLOSE on paper bearing a 'Another Scandal Rocks the Baltimore Diocese' headline.
TRU
I had to take two buses to shake Jack off. Then double back a bit. It was like
he was after the Maltese Falcon.
HARRISON is staring down at the paper
HARRISON
(mumbling)
This is wrong.
TRU
What?
HARRISON
I know this guy. He wouldn’t molest a kid, he was too busy ogling their moms.
TRU
Come again?
HARRISON
I know a fellow skirt chaser on sight. Its like gaydar. Its all in the eyes.
He was putting the priestly moves on all the desperate housewives. He’s only a lecher not
a child molester.
TRU
That sort of rhymes…Lecher?
HARRISON
Dad got me a Word of the Day Calender.
TRU
Then. Why would the boy lie?
HARRISON
Kids say the darnest things?
TRU looks disgusted.
HARRISON
How should I know? I lied a lot when I when I was a kid. I lie a lot now. I
met him when I was trying to play the Catholic card with this hot Sunday
School teacher. I hung out with him while waiting for her every day for
like four weeks. (sighing) It was after Lindsey, I had the time.
TRU looks away.
HARRISON
Yeah, you don’t believe me, that‘s cool. Are you still going to save him?
TRU
Yes, of course...
HARRISON
Don’t listen to Jack. You think you’d have to save a bad guy? And yeah, what
if you did? You’re not God. You’re like the new chick at the DMV in God’s
government. If that.
TRU laughs, a real smile graces her face.
TRU
Its just tough, sometimes. I forget that.
HARRISON
Have you talked to Davis?
TRU gives him a sharp look.
TRU
No.
HARRISON
Figured you’d be over that.
TRU rolls her eyes and grabs her newspaper. She stands.
TRU
I'm not.
TRU turns and walks away.
HARRISON
(calling after her)
People make mistakes.
INT - MORGUE - DAY
DAVIS is sitting inside the morgue at his office chair head in his hands as CARRIE walks in. He looks up at her and smiles broadly.
CARRIE
My client cancelled on me so I thought... (shrugs) I would come here instead...
DAVIS
Oh well.
DAVIS fidgets slightly.
CARRIE
Where’s Tru?
DAVIS
(mumbles)
She uh...she... Harrison said that...I mean...uh. It’s a rewind day...
CARRIE
(suddenly interested)
Oh really.
CARRIE leans forward into her seat, resting her elbows on DAVIS' desk.
CARRIE
So what do we have?
DAVIS
Uhm. Well....
CARRIE
Come on. You can tell me....maybe I can even help. Tru’s just one person
after all, don’t you think it would be easier on her to have all of us on
board..
DAVIS
Yeah...
DAVIS waits a few beats and then he finally leans forward.
DAVIS
Well, okay. I just got off the phone with Harrison and...
EXT - ADAMS AND MAYFAIR LAW OFFICE - DAY
TRU walks past a metal sign reading, 'Adams and Mayfair. Attorneys at Law,' card in one hand and notepad in the other. As she turns a corner JACK can be seen leaning against the wall.
JACK
Tru, I ended up by the docks. Which bus did you take?
TRU
The one you weren’t on.
JACK
Nice card. Don’t tell me. I’ll guess. it’s a press card. Great plan. Not even
the New York Times is getting anything from these guys. Does this mean I win?
END OF ACT TWO
BLACK OUT.
ACT THREE
EXT - LAMPANELLI HOUSE - DAY
HARRISON pulls up to the curb in front of a low yellow house talking on his cell phone.
HARRISON
(into phone)
Yeah, number 3206? Thanks, Davis, you’re a peach. What Tru? No, she is good,
gone to the church. Yeah, adios.
HARRISON sighs as he steps out of the car and walks up to the door. CLOSE on the 'God Bless' welcome mat. He RAPS on the door tune to tune of the 'Charles in Charge' theme song. The door opens to reveal, MR. LAMPANELLI a grumpy looking, middle aged man with red hair.
HARRISON
Hello, sir, Mr.Lampanelli, I’m Harrison and I was hoping to ask a few
questions.
The door slams shut.
HARRISON reacts and then turns to see CHANCE playing on the sidewalk, holding a magnifying glass to a small anthill. HARRISON looks down at kid for a few beats and then casually walks over.
HARRISON
You know...it actually has to be sunny for that to work.
CHANCE just shrugs.
HARRISON
Do you live there?
CHANCE
Yes....
HARRISON
What’s your name kid?
CHANCE
Chance.
HARRISON squats down next to CHANCE.
HARRISON
Ah....so you know Father Boone huh.
CHANCE looks up sharply.
CHANCE
What about him? I hate Father Boone...
HARRISON
Hate’s a strong word. Why do you hate him?
CHANCE
Who are you anyway?
CHANCE gets up a juts out his bottom chin.
CHANCE
Why are you asking me about all of this....
HARRISON throws out his hands in defense.
HARRISON
Hey, hey. I’m cool. Relax, okay.
CHANCE
Are you here because of my mom?
HARRISON
Uh..your mom?
CHANCE
(nodding)
Yeah... She died and nobody cared before and now everyone does. And my dad
doesn’t even want to talk about it. He just shuts his door all day and cries,
but I don’t think he knows I can hear him...
HARRISON
And do you talk to Father Boone about that?
CHANCE
(glaring)
I hate him! And stop asking about him! Dad says I’m not supposed to talk to
strangers about what happened..
HARRISON goes to say something but hears a door open and then slam off in the distance near the house. He frowns and looks back down at CHANCE.
HARRISON
Sorry about your mom...
HARRISON then walks off.
INT/EXT - THE MONITOR - AFTERNOON
TRU walks in the crowded plaza and enters an office building.
JENSEN (O.S)
(calling out)
Tru.
JENSEN comes in from O.S with a bag in hand and runs up to her.
JENSEN
I was yelling your name.
TRU
Sorry, I’ve been out there all day.
TRU waves towards her head.
TRU
Complete space cadet.
JENSEN
What do you need at the Monitor?
JACK walks in from O.S.
JACK
Yes, Tru, what do you need at the only newspaper in town that got the scoop on
the sex scandal story?
JENSEN
What?
JENSEN looks back and forth between TRU and JACK.
JENSEN
(casually)
You know Jack, I never did hear how exactly you and Tru know each other.
TRU
Jack, could you please leave?
JENSEN
Tru…
JACK
Its okay Jensen, but are you guys sure I can’t buy us all a cup of coffee,
maybe a donut?
JENSEN
That would be great.
JENSEN gives TRU a reproving look. TRU takes a deep breath and follows them, her eyes never leaving JACK.
INT - HARRISON'S CAR - AFTERNOON
HARRISON'S left thumb dials on his cell phone as he drives. He puts the phone on the dash and places his other hand on ten.
DAVIS (V.O)
Hello?
HARRISON
(Into phone)
Yo, its Harrison. No go at the kid’s father’s place. You know how she does it?
That questioning thing? Because all I got was a door to my nose.
DAVIS (V.O)
Well, she is our Frodo and we are only her Merry and Sam.
HARRISON
No, if she’s anything, she’s Sydney Bristow and you’re Marshall. I’m Dixon.
DAVIS (V.O)
Marshall? No, she’d be Buffy and I’d be Giles.
HARRISON
You, Giles? Stop sniffing the formaldehyde. You’re Willow or Wesley before he
grew a pair.
HARRISON does a double take and looks confused, slightly freaked out.
HARRISON
You can never tell anyone about this conversation.
DAVIS (V.O)
Got it. What do you need?
HARRISON
Priest Boone’s address.
DAVIS (V.O)
Its Charnock and Woodwind at the Admiral’s Arms. #412.
HARRISON
(laughs)
Thanks, Willow.
DAVIS
Funny. Where’s Tru anyway? Why isn’t she doing this?
HARRISON
Jack. Bye.
EXT - CAFE - AFTERNOON
TRU'S phone RINGS as she stares at its digital clock.
TRU
Hello?
JENSEN and JACK are chatting away in POCKET DIALOUGE.
TRU
I don’t know, around five. I’m in this huge situation; invasion of Poland sort
of situation.
JACK
(to Jensen)
Yeah, Tru is a girl with some fascinating extracurriculars.
JENSEN looks between them confused. While TRU stands and brushes them both off.
TRU
I got to go.
EXT - FATHER BOONE'S HOUSE - AFTERNOON
HARRISON
Damn it.
HARRISON walks up the steps of a shabby beige apartment complex with ‘The Admiral’s Arms’ painted on its side. In the distance a grey stone church steeple can be seen. Walking to the brown door with the number ‘412’ and a white anchor on it, he knocks. DAVID BOONE opens the door in a sweater and slacks.
HARRISON
Hey, Priest Boone, it’s me, Harrison. I hung around waiting for Melanie, the
Sunday school teacher.
HARRISON squints at FATHER BOONE.
HARRISON
Wow, your neck is really pale with that God necklace thing.
FATHER BOONE
(sighing and looking heavenward)
Yes, Harrison, how could I forget? Why are you here?
HARRISON
(shrugs)
I have no idea.
FATHER BOONE
Are you a report- Nevermind. Come in so I can sit down. But, I do hope this
meeting won’t be lasting long. I have a wake to tend to.
HARRISON
You’re a real cuddly guy, sir.
FATHER BOONE
Indeed.
EXT - SUBURBUN STREET - AFTERNOON
TRU is seen walking down the street reading a scrap of paper in her hands.
TRU
(to herself)
Yellow house, yellow house.
JACK casually strolls beside her.
JACK
Shouldn’t you be protecting the priest?
TRU
You know, I really ought to get a taser or some pepper spray.
JACK stops in front of her and smiles.
JACK
Now, think about that. Where would your rapidly disappearing moral high ground
go if you resorted to violence. Again.
JACK suddenly looks over her shoulder. CUT TO: Jensen's car parked at the corner.
JACK
Lucy, I think you have some explaining to do.
TRU looks and her jaw tightens when she sees his car. TRU looks over at JACK'S watch. EXTREME CLOSE WATCH: Its almost five. A truck speeds passed them from the direction of a yellow house down the street. TRU swears and runs over to Jensen’s car.
INT - FATHER BOONE'S HOUSE - LATE AFTERNOON
HARRISON sits in the gray plaid chair looking around, scratching his neck. DAVID BOONE sits on the brown sofa watching.
HARRISON
You know that they have some good fake tans in a can.
FATHER BOONE
A pale complexion is the least of my problems.
HARRISON
Yeah, speaking of that; do you know who could want to kill you?
FATHER BOONE
(sighing)
What? Do you ever listen to yourself?
HARRISON
I try not to but seriously, is there a safe place you could be today? Hey, how
about we go get ice cream? Maybe Tutti Fruity? Its delicious, everyone loves
it, trust me.
HARRISON checks his watch.
HARRISON
Soda? Hamburgers? Whatever.
FATHER BOONE
What are you talking about? That child is already taking the parish for
everything, what else do they want? Its all because of Moni- Its all because
of spite.
FATHER BOONE gets up from his chair, frowning.
HARRISON
I knew it wasn’t true. Sure, you’re a lecher but with the ladies.
FATHER BOONE runs his hand along the small dresser and finally rests them on a little antique wooden box. CLOSE FINGERS as he raps on it a few times before pulling away.
FATHER BOONE
Lecher? That’s a big word.
HARRISON
Hey, I have a vocab. And a word of the day calendar.
FATHER BOONE
You’re a baffling man. Truly a enigma but for all that I have a lot of doubt
that in five minutes someone is going to barge in and shoot me
HARRISON
Speaking of-
O.S a loud crash can be hear followed by a car alarm.
HARRISON
My car
HARRISON jumps up and runs to do.
HARRISON
Go in the john and lock the door. My car Number 412. Oh, god, my car I don’t
have insurance
STEADY as HARRISON runs out the door and knocks aside a redheaded man as he speeds down the stairs. A truck is parked crooked next to his car. and the left taillight on his car has been knocked clean off.
HARRISON
Its not paid off yet I already owe the mechanic. Jerk off Damn it.
O.S a GUN SHOT can be heard.
END OF ACT THREE
BLACK OUT.
ACT FOUR
INT - FATHER BOONE'S HOUSE - LATE AFTERNOON
TRU rushes inside the house. Once she gets fully inside a hand goes to her mouth.
MR. LAMPANELLI
Stay right where you are!
TRU instantly freezes and outstretches her arms in fear. WIDE as we see FATHER BOONE lying on the ground, hand clutched to his shoulder as he tries to stop the blood spurting out.
TRU
Wait... Just put the gun down...
MR. LAMPANELLI
No...I’m going to get this son of a bitch for what he did to me. To my son!
He’s a pervert...he deserves to die..
TRU
(softly)
You don’t know that...
MR. LAMPANELLI
(shouting)
I do
MR. LAMPANELLI walks over to the priest until he is standing right over him.
MR. LAMPANELLI
Chance told me you used to keep him after class...didn’t you?
MR. LAMPANELLI jerks the gun forward.
MR. LAMPANELLI
Didn’t you?!
FATHER BOONE
(grimicing in pain)
Y-yes...Chance was...is...Chance is....
MR. LAMPANELLI
He’s what? Huh? Are you going to admit to what you did to him. Say something!
FATHER BOONE
(sputtering)
He’s.....troublemaker, But...
FATHER BOONE tries to sit back and falls back down hard. A faint smile goes across his features which TRU seems to notice. She still makes no move.
FATHER BOONE
Good.....Good...kid....
TRU looks away at the priests small hint of a smile. A Final GUNSHOT rings out and FATHER BOONE lies still. TRU GASPS and looks back over just then Harrison rushes inside and then stops dead in his tracts when he sees the priests fallen body crumpled on the ground.
HARRISON
What...? What the hell happened?
MR. LAMPANELLI
I had to... He...he hurt Chance...I had to....
HARRISON
No! He was innocent! He didn’t hurt your kid! I....I can prove it...
TRU
What?
MR. LAMPANELLI lowers his gun slightly
HARRISON
Here...look.
HARRISON goes to the dresser and rifles through the box. Opening it to find letters.
MR. LAMPANELLI
What the hell are those?
HARRISON
Letters.... (looking over them) Love letters...from Monica...from...from your wife...
TRU
They’re what?
HARRISON
(reads)
David, my dearest David....I tried so hard to make things work like you said,
but I cannot keep lying to Travis like that. How can I when I'm in love
with another man. I should tell him about Chance, I know it’s been years and
in your position being a father is the last thing you need. But, they both should now.
The illness is beginning to spread and I can’t live a lie.
Travis should know that Chance is your son. All my love Monica..
MR. LAMPANELLI
(mumbles)
He...he wasn’t even my son...
HARRISON and TRU look back down at FATHER BOONE'S still body, though TRU has regret in her eyes.
EXT - FATHER BOONE'S HOUSE -EVENING
TRU and HARRISON are both outside the house with police cruisers in view. TRU is pacing back and forth while HARRISON is quite and subdued.
HARRISON
You didn’t know.. Tru, you can’t blame yourself for this...
TRU
(avoiding his gaze)
Yes, I can Hare.
HARRISON
No. There was nothing you could have done. He was dead before you got there
right, that Travis guy....he...Tru, don’t go beating yourself up over it.
TRU
(sighing)
Yeah....
HARRISON
Are you gonna go see Jensen? I know he was following you. It’d be a good idea
to see why..
TRU
No...right now I just want to go home and get some sleep.
HARRISON
Why? It’s early...
TRU looks down, quiet for a moment. Finally she looks back up at him.
TRU
I think I may go in to work tomorrow...
INT - RICHARD DAVIES OFFICE - NIGHT
RICHARD looks up from the stack of papers he’s rifling through as Jack walks in. RICHARD waves towards a chair in front of him.
RICHARD
Of course you can come in Jack, thank you for knocking.
JACK sits down in front of RICHARD.
JACK
Looks like we won tonight..
RICHARD
(in vague interest)
Mmhmm, but we didn’t win, you did. We just help along the way. And having Tru
question her morals...that was a nice touch.
JACK
My idea.
RICHARD
You had help.
JACK
From Carrie, yes. (chuckles softly) Who had help from Davis. It seems that
has worked out nicely too...
RICHARD
Yes, guess it has. But, how long do you think that will last? The wedge you’ve
driven between them?
JACK
From the looks of it...
RICHARD
Don’t get cocky. Tru may have setbacks but we both know what she’s capable
of. And we all need to be on our guard...
JACK
I think we can handle it.
RICHARD
No, the question is...can she?
END OF ACT FOUR
