Beauty versus Glory
Fuji didn’t like the colours of Hyotei’s jersey. He didn’t like the purple-grey colour and thought that it clashed horribly, not to mention that the design was, in his opinion, absolutely appalling. He frequently told the diva so, enjoying the look of outrage on his face as the comments sunk in.
“I’ll have you know that Hyotei’s uniform was designed by my top designers,” he sniffed, looking royally peeved. “Seigaku’s uniform is a horror to wash . . . the material is so cheap, I’m almost afraid that the laundry products my staff uses will destroy it.”
“For a uniform designed by your best, the colour certainly doesn’t suit the majority of the team,” Fuji commented. When Atobe opened his mouth to protest, the tensai chuckled. “Of course, it certainly brings out the colour of your eyes and hair.”
This seemed to appease Atobe’s mood somewhat and he went and bought a new camera for Fuji. The first photo Fuji took with the camera was his diva boyfriend, the next day, wearing his Hyotei jersey. Still clutching the camera, he went to his own practice back at Seigaku, convincing his other boyfriend, Tezuka, to pose for others. Well, posing wasn’t as good a word as staying still and letting Fuji take pictures, but Fuji decided that those pictures were among the best he had taken.
Back at Home, the tensai experimented with colours as he developed the new photos. He had blown up two of the best A4 size, deciding that he was going to give them to their respective subjects the next morning. Yumiko came in and studied the pictures with interest.
“My, you certainly bring out the best in them, Syusuke.”
“You think so?”
He chose Tezuka’s because he knew the angle of the sunlight was the best in bringing out the captain’s eyes and tone of his hair. The only word possible to describe his captain-turned-boyfriend was ‘glorious’ and it fitted him perfectly.
Atobe’s picture, on the other hand, had undergone three tries before Fuji finally decided on which one he liked best. It accentuated his dark eyes and the contrast of his hair with his pale complexion. Where Tezuka was gloriously light, Fuji’s other boyfriend was dark, and beautifully so.
“Yes, I think they suit them very well,” Yumiko said.
“Mm . . . they certainly are beautiful.” He didn’t specify whether it was the subject of the photos, or the photos themselves, but Yumiko nodded all the same. “I like them.”
He knew Tezuka was strikingly handsome in colour, but Fuji maintained that Atobe looked best in black and white.
