RL with Zelda - Discussions of life's little mean-spirited tricks.

Mireille only had a few minutes to tidy up the place before Zelda arrived, but she did the best she could. It was odd that she cared...the woman had seen her in nothing but a t-shirt, when the apartment hadn't been tidied at all. And yet it did, in fact, matter ( Read more... )

Zelda really wouldn’t have minded what the place looked like, as she had seen it whenever she had been unexpected. She was to furious with the community and the virus to care much, anyway. She was unbelievably frustrated that the virus had impaired her judgment, and Darc’s. Marriage? Really? How…humiliating, yet at the same time so incredibly disappointing that it had happened when they were affected, and not of their own accord. She gripped the necklace that was her world hop device in her fingers, attempting not to hold it too tightly. Within seconds, she was standing in the middle of Mireille’s apartment.

Zelda opened her eyes (she always closed them during hops; leaving them open left her disoriented), eyes falling on the other woman, who was seated on the windowsill.

“I apologize for the abruptness of my post, and my arrival. Perhaps next time we can arrange something not quite so random.”

Mireille had only glanced away for a second, and seemed quite startled when the other woman spoke, spinning back around, her eyes wide. She had expected something...a noisy, maybe. A pop? Something to indicate the others arrival besides, well...the others arrival.

But she recovered after a moment and shook her head, reaching up to tuck her hair back behind her ears. "It's fine. I wasn't doing anything. What's wrong?"

“Were you affected by the most recent …virus?” Zelda asked wearily. She hadn’t been sleeping well, the blasted Bokoblins and Bulbins had gotten into a fight just outside of her door the previous night, and had caused such a ruckus that she herself had had to go stop it. Ganondorf had either not heard, or had not cared. The virus had left her with something that had left her nearly incapacitated over the actual weekend, and today…well. She was livid.

"Ah...no, I was lucky. Do you mean the one that seemed to have every thinking they were drunk?" She pushed off the windowsill and moved over to where her friend was standing, studying the taller woman.

"I take it you were?"

“Yes.” Her answer was short and sharp. There was evident frustration and anger written on Zelda’s face, and she jerked off the long black cloak she normally wore with more force than really necessary.

Mireille reached out to take Zelda's coat, plucking it away from the other and moving across the room to hang it on the rack near the door. "I see."

"So what happened that has so upset?"

“I do not drink. Alcohol addles the mind; it causes us not to be able to think clearly or rationally. It makes us agree to do, and say things that normally we would not.” She murmured, not quite answering the question yet.

Mireille raised an eyebrow, unable to hide a faint smile that tugged at the corners of her lips as she walked back to her friend. She agreed with the sentiment, though she drank from time to time regardless.

"And what did you do that you would not have normally done, hmm?" She asked as she came to a stop before the other again, crossing her arms.

Zelda ground her teeth in annoyance.

“I agreed to a marriage proposal. Regardless of how…intoxicated I may have seemed, that sort of thing, at least in Hyrule, is binding."

Mireille was quite surprised by that. She had honestly been expecting regretted sex...that was the standard mistake when drinking more than you should have. Or the community making you feel as though you had.

After a moments consideration, she let out a little breath. "Oh. Well, who's the lucky man?"

Zelda exhaled slowly, attempting to remain calm. She could not believe she had done such a thing; it may sound...trivial, but in Hyrule this sort of thing was not taken lightly.

"Darc."

"Oh, you mentioned him before, I think?" She said, after taking a few moments to sort through her brain until she remembered the name.

"Well...Congratulations, then!" She couldn't resist a grin now, either. Sure, Zelda was panicking, but Mireille was doing the rational thing and looking at the upside.

Mireille earned herself a glare before Zelda dropped her face into her hands with a groan.

"He was drunk when he asked me! Drunk! I have no idea what to think about this, or make of it."

Mireille took a half-step back at that glare...she knew the princess had magical powers and would rather not get turned into a frog or fireballed or something. "Here, sit down..." She caught her by the arm and led her over to the couch to sit.

"Well, the way I've always seen it, people do two things when they're drunk. Things never, ever should've done, but probably wanted to. Or things they should do, have wanted to do, but put off for some reason."

"So what do you think this is?"

Zelda let Mireille lead her to the couch, where the Princess of Hyrule, the Scion of Wisdom and bearer of the Triforce dropped her head into her lap and whimpered about a man.

“I do not know. I…he has never shown any sort of interest in that regard before now; only friendship. He is…he cares for another, a human I have not met.”

Mireille settled down onto couch and place her hand gently on Zelda's back, giving the other a reassuring sort of rub. "Well, you expressed your own interest to me, when you were here before. About him, I mean." She considered. "But had you told him that sort of thing, or had you expressed only...friendship, as well?"
