Out to explore

[Fran goes out for a walk. Anyone observing her will simply see an average blonde teen, though with a fairly unfocused facial expression and a stiff manner of walking. She roams around, jotting things on a notepad and talking to herself ( Read more... )

[Muttering to himself as he's walking, discretely checking his right arm which may or may not be a little more metallic then most others, peeking through the sleeve between that and the white gloves.]

Damn dirt, sparring with Al again....Winry'll kill me.

[Fran continues walking along, taking notes of any people who stand out. So far the Drones have struck her as normal, if to the point to defy statistics. She smiles a bit as she sees Ed and finally begins jotting some things down while murmuring to herself]

Finally some statistical deviations. Shorter than average male teen with seemingly prosthetic arm.

[Ed was walking past when he distinctly heard the muttering. Of course, he tuned into the word "short" and immediately reacted from there, bristling as he turned.]

Hey! WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SMALL HE CAN'T EVEN BE SEEN UNDER A MICROSCOPE, HUH?!

[Fran turns and cocks her head curiously]

I didn't say that~ And I in fact do not need a microscope to see you. I can see you quite clearly~

Damn right you don't! So don't call me short! Or small! Or anything like that!

[Ed spluttered, pointing a finger at her as if that would get the point across. Evidently, no, he didn't appreciate any remarks on his height.]

[Fran simply nods, her face not betraying any emotional reaction]

There's nothing wrong with being short~ But if it really is a problem I do know a technique using bone extenders than can make you taller~ And is that a prosthetic? May I ask who the local physician around here is?

STOP CALLING ME SHORT!

[But he seems to calm after that, especially at mentions of extenders. To...make him taller....? Really? He's intriuged, Fran.]

Really? How would that work...? It sounds kinda painful if you ask me, if you mean that literally. Not that the prosthetics for my arm and leg didn't hurt, but still...

Yeah. I have auto-mail prosthetics, my...girlfriend Winry made them for me. So if you want the details, you should ask her about it, I only know the basics of how to explain it.

NO YOU FOOL! RUN AWAY~ relaxiamadoctor April 20 2010, 23:20:17 UTC
You have a prosthetic leg too? That complicates it a little~ I'd have to find you a new leg, and I don't have proper lab space here yet~ You would also be wheelchair bound for at least a month while your body adjusts to the extenders.

Auto-mail? I'm not familiar with that style of prosthetic. I'd like to meet her sometime~

I'm sorry. I meant to say at least three months.

But this might make him taller? Just for that it should be considered. braided_icarus April 21 2010, 00:22:39 UTC
Yeah. Right arm and left leg. It was....er...an accident, in the East Civil War back home in Resembool, Amestris. If it's gonna take that long and you don't have the space yet, that's fine. As for the wheelchair, nothing I haven't gone through before with the prosthetics, and even then they said it would take three years to recover and rehabilitate but I managed one.

Yeah. I rather not show it too publically with the drones and all, but if you wanted, I guess you could come see when she next does maintenance on it up in my attic so she can explain how it works and all that.

[Fran strokes her chin thoughtfully]

I'd appreciate that. I apologize for disturbing you before. I was just trying to make scientific observations of this new environment I've found myself in.

How is my height of any scientific relevance?

The majority of the people I've seen of this town are...exceptionally average and of such good health as to defy statistics. You represented a statistical deviation...which is more normal~

I see.....

[Not sure he should take that as a compliment given it was in reference to his height. He's not that short.]
