Browsing the newspapers. (Open)

Liz had realised something startling over the last few weeks. Sometimes a military mind was necessary. There were a great many scientists here, and that was all well and good, but there were some things they didn't have the answer to. (A great many things, actually, but they were trying their best).

How much should they tell the general public, for example? It was an issue Sarah Jane had already raised, and it was something that Liz found herself greatly concerned about. The newspapers were currently filled with theories - none of which came particularly close to the truth - but surely it was only a matter of time before someone ended up on the right track?

And perhaps they were other people out there who could help them? People who hadn't received a communicator.

With this in mind, Liz found herself dedicating a few hours each day to the careful examination of each of the main newspapers. Part of her dreaded seeing a name she recognised, in a situation she didn't want to recognise, but she'd come to accept that she was well and truly out of time. She had to make the most of it.
