The Professor was gone. Part of the Key to Time. And she didn't even get to say goodbye ... Ace's grief was raw, heavy, and indescribable. Her heart felt so heavy she could barely stand and walk. She'd retreated upstairs to one of the many bedrooms to be alone, and here she sat in a window seat, hugging a pillow to her knees, and trying mightily not to cry. She was failing.
The Professor had been her very life and soul ever since he had come into her life. She idolized and adored him, though she would never admit it, and her sun rose and set on him. Now that he was gone, her life no longer had any purpose or direction.
The tears came, hotly. She buried her face in the pillow to muffle her sobs. Funny how her first instinct had been to destroy everything in the house ... but now she just felt broken.
She wondered if this was punishment for telling him she loved him.
