He took a deep breath. "Give me ten minutes to get dressed and tell Cat where I'm going. I can't just leave her."

By now, Liam was up and wandering around his room, picking out clothes for today, packing a bag, trying to think of what he'd say to Cat. "It all seems so sudden. I only just saw you a year ago!"

It didn't even occur to him to ask what a rift was. If Ace thought it important, Liam accepted that. "So much must've happened for you. It did, I suppose. You're married. Blimey." A pause. "Do you want me to wait for you outside?"

She switched her communicator off and climbed on the bike, sunglasses over her eyes she punched in the coordinates and began to ride off. Disappearing into the vortex before she'd turned the corner and exiting once more a street away from Liam's flat.

And then he heard the roar of the bike, and looked towards the sound. He squinted into the sunlight. There was Ace, looking like a cocky action hero, grinning and waving as she rode up. "Well, bugger me," Liam announced, and took a step to hug his sister hello.
