Could life BE better?

So, this whole week.... Wow. 2012 has been more and more awesome as it's gone by, and this week has been one of the best yet.

Sunday was the aftermath of St. Patty's day, which was pretty crazy in and of itself. I'm not even going to try to recount everything that happened that night - part of it is a little fuzzy when I try to remember it - but highlights involved Max and Rachael FINALLY making it out to my apartment (as well as a zillion other people - seriously, I have never had that many people I don't know inside my house in my life), hanging out Jessica's window onto the "balcony" and staring at all the drunk people roaming down 5th street, and watching a guy juggle fireballs in the street outside my window.

Sunday morning, I was.... really, really hungover. Not really, really, REALLY hungover - head didn't hurt too bad - but the room wouldn't stop spinning. I was determined to get over this problem as quickly as possible, because Wes, Robyn and Rachael were supposed to come over to do The Sunday Thing.

That ended up being more painless than I'd expected. They came over, and I knitted, and Rachael worked on her needlefelting, and Zaya was adorable. It was a good day.

Sunday night, I did. not. sleep.

Monday, I slogged through work, but I wasn't quite as dead as I would have thought I would have been, considering the sleep deprivation.

Monday night, I STILL did. not. sleep.

Tuesday, I thought I was going to be a zombie, but for some reason, I was fine. In fact, I ROCKED. First thing in the morning, my boss gave me an assignment to figure something out in Excel. It was kind of an advanced thing, so she suggested that I go to the IT guys for help. I did so, but they were both busy. So, I googled the problem, and found a couple different results. I spent a good part of the morning beating my head against that, trying to figure out, and it was GREAT. It was a puzzle! A challenge! At one point when I thought I'd found something, but it turned out to be wrong, I went over to my boss and genuinely thanked her for giving me something this fun to figure out.

Eventually, I did find out the best way to solve the problem - it was so simple, it hurt - and I felt like the smartest woman in the world.

It was one of those days where I was crazy mentally awake as long as I was busy, but every time I paused, I felt like I was going to fall asleep. So, I think I might have actually slept through some parts of the staff meeting.

There was a bunch of things going on in the office involving one of our clients being in the building, so the conference room was booked. I asked my boss if we were still having ops meeting, and she said yes, if we could figure out where to have it. Half-jokingly, I suggested the roof. Everyone in the office suddenly perked up, and my boss told us to go for it.

So, we had Ops meeting on the roof, and it was WONDERFUL. Work meetings just shouldn't be that much fun. The 5th-floor view of Dayton made it perfect.

As we were headed back down, one of my coworkers mentioned to the other that I have a tarantula (not sure how that subject came up). Brad looked at me and said, "Hm... you have a tarantula? Do you want a bearded dragon?"

He'd bought one about a month ago, and apparently decided that it was too much to take care of. I've had enough various creatures that I feel fairly confident taking on a dragon...

Wednesday, I had another glorious day at work. Brad came to drop off the dragon after I came home. I'm hoping I can take good care of the little guy.... We're still trying to figure out a good name for him. He's pretty skittish right now, but I'm determined that we WILL make this creature into a chill, social lizard. He's already bitten me and is currently trying to dig his way out of the cage, so.... we have some work ahead of us.

Thursday was the day that one of our clients surprised us all by delivering us a gift of 3 dozen jars of pickles (they're a pickle plant). One of them was broken, and we ended up getting pickle juice alllll over the conference room. This was the same day that we celebrated the CEO's birthday - for that, we had homemade strawberry cake. By the end of the day, the conference room smelled like strawberry cake and pickles... Lovely! I got to take home one of the pickle jars. Best. Pickles. EVER. Even better when they're free, and from work.

That night, I went to Kroger after work to pick up a carpet cleaner. The landlord wanted to take a look at the apartment for some maintenance issues, and I wanted to make sure that it was immaculate when he arrived. As a result, I am now very happy with the way my floors look - there was a spot where I'd spilled Pepsi a while back which I'd been downright ashamed of, and it is now GONE, FOREVER (until I spill more pepsi).

On Friday, the landlord came to check on the place while I was home for my lunch break. There's just a couple small things he needs to fix - the faucet on my bath tub is getting old and calcified, and that's going to need to be replaced, and the track on my other closet door (for some reason, no one knows why, there is one on each side of it) has been in terrible shape since I moved in. I'm not sure when he's going to be back to fix those... I hope soon, so I don't have to rent the carpet cleaner again.

By the way - it costs $30 to rent a car for a weekend, and $40 to rent a carpet cleaner for a day. What the HELL. Cars are much more expensive than carpet cleaners! What is WRONG with our society? Aaaaahh, this makes my brain hurt!

Speaking of renting cars, I'm going to trrryyyyyyy to do that next weekend and zip off to PA for the third time this year. Then, Mike's coming back some time in the middle of April. I'm excited! We will have been dating for a whole year starting April 1st, and we have made 400 miles our bitch.

Today, I woke up, drove around for a while, and had breakfast at 2nd Street Market, as usual. I am addicted to the crepe place they have there. Ran into a bunch of people from the Dayton Circus while I was there, and chatted with Maggie about PR stuff for the show coming up in May... Afterwards, I went home, did some housework, and went out at 6 to let some guys in for the punk rock show that's going on at the Yellowcab building tonight. Then I went out and bought some more crickets for the dragon.

I think my tarantula is molting again. Grow, my 8-legged minion!

And that's it. Jess and Chris just got back. Gotta go, stuff's happening!
