The Olympics

I'm sad to see the Olympics go. The past two weeks have been fun.

I'm so proud of Canada. I think we put on a great games. There were some bumps the first few days but once things got going there was really nothing to complain about (the weather the last few days wasn't our fault, there nothing we could do about it).

I loved seeing all the Canadian spirit at all the events. Not just Canadian spirit though, there was a lot of support for other countries as well. It's always nice seeing the host country cheering for everyone participating.

The parties each night in Vancouver looked insane, I wish I could have been there.

And our athletes; it's hard to believe that we started these Olympics with zero golds and now we have fourteen, the record for the most golds won by a country in the Winter Olympics. I'm so proud of them.

With the Closing Ceremony, I liked how they started it with making fun of the broken cauldron arm from the Opening. How Canadian, we can never pass up an opportunity to poke fun at ourselves *g*. I'm glad that Catriona Le May Doan finally got to light it since she couldn't during the Opening due to the arm on her side not rising. I've loved her since the Nagano games in 1998.

Next up is London in 2012. I don't like the Summer Olympics as much (there are a lot of events in it that I don't care about unlike the Winter games), but I'll be watching anyway.

ETA: The Closing Ceremony is officially hilarious!
