The bad DQ, not the yummy Dairy Queen kind

I always lol a little when someone says a series is licensed and it turns out that the company that licensed it is DramaQueen.

Why? Because DQ is nothing but a scam company.

I'll explain.

A few years ago when DQ came into existence they licensed several popular BL stories. There was much rejoicing.

And DQ did release a few minor stories. It wasn't much but it was enough for people to pre-order their more popular titles that hadn't yet been released. And that was when the trouble began.

Around this time last year people start noticing that their website hadn't been updated in a year (and even now if you go there it still says 2007//09/01) and there are questions about what is going on. The people behind DQ comes out of hiding and reassures everyone that things are 'fine', that they did have problems with publishing costs for a while but had found a backer. They also announce that one of their most anticipated series was going to be released by the end of month (Sept). A few weeks later they change things so that it'll now be out in Nov of that year.

Good, right? Nope; AFAIK that's the last time anyone had really heard from DQ. No manga and people who had pre-ordered from them (thankfully not me) have spent most of 2009 trying to get refunds, but they're always met with no response. No apologizes, no reassurances that what they paid for is coming; nothing, they get ignored.

And thats why I think the entire thing was nothing but a scam. A legit company would have offered refunds. After-all people have paid for a product that isn't being delivered. They have a legal responsibility to provide the product that people have paid for or return the money.

And that's how scam artists work. They give out a little to sucker people in (in this case the manga they did release) and then run once they get the money that they want.
