Favourites List of 2007
Since it's the beginning of the year, I decided to list my favourite things (movie, video game, anime, etc) from 2007.
Keep in mind that a lot of these things were released before 2007 and are simply of things I started reading/watching/playing this past year. And since it's not fair to count things I only got at Christmas (and thus only had a week of playtime before the end of the year), I'm going from Christmas 2006 to Christmas 2007.
Favourite Manga: (tie) D.Gray-man and Katekyo Hitman Reborn - okay this was the toughest category. I almost went with something by Kaori Yuki because I do love her but when it came right down to it, I'm simply too much of a shounen fan and my choices came down to Reborn and D.Gray-man. And it was really close as I went back and forth a few times so in the end I decided the only thing I could do (unless I wanted to spend the entire night going over the pros and cons of both) was to declare a tie.
Favourite Anime: Gundam SEED - I admit, this is kinda a cheat since I saw a few episodes of the dub a few years ago, but I never actually saw the entire thing until this year and I only saw something like six episodes before. I think I'm one of the few fans around who actually likes SEED since I know plenty of people hate it but I don't care what other people think (to be fair though I never did get around to watching Gundam SEED Destiny, which is suppose to be the real hate of the series).
Favourite Video Game: Kingdom Hearts II - one of my favourite games ever. Despite being a lifelong fan of both Disney and Final Fantasy, I was originally hesitant in playing this game (mainly because Disney had broke my heart so much in recent years). Boy I was dumb in waiting. It's the game that got me interested in gaming again after so many years of only mildly caring about games for series I already knew (Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Xenosaga, etc). If only the KH fandom wasn't so damn wanky.
Favourite Computer Game: World of Warcraft - ah, WoW... probably my easiest pick. Such a lovely addiction, which even now I have to quit every few months to keep that addiction in check. I played similar types of games before but found them boring and annoying. And then I played WoW...
Favourite Book: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - I know a lot of fans hated this book, but I liked it (even the epilogue). Okay, perhaps it's not the best book out there (not even the best of the series) but it's the end of an era. I never thought I'd see such craze over a book and my geeky little self loves that such madness happened over something that is typically considered 'nerdy'.
Favourite Movie: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End - not as good as the first one but better than the 2nd. I must admit though I've always had affection for cheesy pirate stories ever since those old Monkey Island games (and yes, I was a fan of the ride long before the first movie came out). Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush together is love and story-wise I really liked what happened to Will, Elizabeth and their relationship (and they were always my least favourite part of the series!).
Favourite TV Show: Doctor Who - hehe, it and Torchwood were really the only two TV shows I was introduced to this year, so it's not like Doctor Who had much competition (although it probably still would have won). Despite originally liking Torchwood better because of Jack Harkness, I started becoming addicted to watching Classic Who these past few months, which is why it wins.
