A long two-day weekend

Aug 31, 2009 13:29

Friday eve, I ventured out to a friend’s party. Sam was offered a post-doc position, Atrey was recently married, and Meg defended her Masters. Lots of goodness, there, so Meg wanted to have a party. I made Guacamole; a little too heavy on the garlic, but it was good.

It's interesting to see people that you encounter every day in a non-work environment. Some are a bit more vocal, others more laid back. It was a good mix of people and food. Most of Meg’s lab-mates are from India, and the curry was heavy in a lot of dishes. Good and spicy! I was home by 10:30 and seriously thought about booting up the WoW machine, but decided to call it a night and went to bed instead.

Saturday was rainy, and I spent a good portion of the day doing a whole lot of nothing. I WoW'd for a bit, watched TV, etc.

Sunday was a bit less wet, so the bike and I went for an early morning spin. My channel down button on my TV remote finally gave up the ghost, so a trip to Sears was in order. I bought a new cordless phone while I was there, and hit the Staples up the street to get an electric pencil sharpener.

Paul moved in Sunday as well. By the time he settled down and we started talking, it was 10:30, so not much was said. I did find out that he plays WoW, so we’ve got a little bit in common there.

I don’t know if it was the party Friday, or being out and about Sunday, but this weekend seemed like it stretched forever. I woke up this morning feeling totally regenerated. I woke up early, a couple of minutes before my alarm went off even. The ride into work was almost too easy; climbing the hill barely made me breathe hard. The students are back in full force today, and maybe that has something to do with feeling rejuvenated as well.

Anyway, work and such, so Happy Monday!

Peace
