At my special needs school

And surrounded by the sounds of my coworkers taiko drumming.
You heard that right. They were rolling out the drums to the gym for their regular taiko practice! Times like these, I totally remember what country I live in now. Haha! Man, these teachers are gooood!

PS--- Just got out of being officially quarantined by my school the other day.  I partied in Osaka and Tokyo around the time of my business trip a week ago and then immediately fell ill the day after I started work again. They thought I might have contracted swine flu or "new flu" or 新型インフルエンザ as it's called, since there were outbreaks in those cities, so I was ordered to keep my sick self at my apt.

My vice principal even delivered food to my door he bought LOL I was really bummed I missed out of the ヘタリア event I planned to go to with my buddy "England" (we were like superstars at Comic City)! But really needed to rest. Turns out it was a good thing I was quarantined, because at the SAME TIME I fell ill, ANOTHER 26 year old girl of Filipina descent brought the 1st case of swine flu to my city!

Yikes~! It was all over the evening news! I'm still telling everyone that this person is NOT ME.  LOL. crazy coincidence though! So I've been telling all my classes that "no, I am NOT that 26 year old girl in the news" with my coughing and SARS mask on. Good times.

PS-- the new shiso-flavored pepsi is out in the stores here. My friend tells me it's actually tasty.

Just so you know, 紫蘇 (しそ) is a plant with a kind of strange, minty flavor to it we use to flavor salads here. I know. WTF?
This friend also enjoys the apple-vinegar flavored kit-kats that came out, so we'll see how this tastes to me.
