Today is the first day of kinder garden, and for the children, today is a special day where they take that first step towards individuality. Their first day away from their parents in school.

While some of the kids are ready to experience being new students in a new environment, there will always be some who are hesitant, clinging to their parents and crying in fear of being separated from them.

One of those scared children is Kim Ryeowook. He wasn't crying, but it was evident in his face and the way he held his mother's hand that he was terrified of what is waiting for him in such a foreign surrounding. He looked around, some of the other children were crying and holding onto their parents, and truthfully, he wanted to do it too, but he didn't want to disappoint his mom.

He started shaking when they were already near the door, and his eyes were already starting to water. He held his mother's hand tighter, hoping to get more strength this way.

Noticing this, Jungsu kneeled down in front of him, smiling softly "Are you scared, Ryeowook-ah?" she asked.

Ryeowook nodded, "Umma, I don't want to go to school" he whispers in a broken voice, tears finally falling from his eyes. "I don't want you to leave"

"Don't cry mein vater" she says gently "I won't be away for good, before you know it, classes are over and I promise you'll see me right outside your door" then she pats him on the head, as she always did when she wants to tell she was proud of him.

"Promise?" Ryeowook says, a bit braver now that he had something to look forward too.

She smiles and nods "Promise".

He smiles back, wiping the tears from his eyes. "O-Okay" he says finally, as she hugs him tighter and he hugs her back.

Soon, they walked inside the school building, Ryeowook was starting to get scared again, but his mother held his hand firmly, a reminder that he doesn't need to be, and he slowly calms down. They approached the teacher, a really beautiful but sharp tongued woman named Kim Heechul. Heechul was a friend of Jungsu, and she goes to their house sometimes, so he wasn't really that afraid of her, although she can get scary at times.

"Morning Chullie" Jungsu greeted Heechul, who sat at her desk, looking more or less annoyed. "Bad Morning?"

"Hey" she greeted back nodding, "I still don't understand how I end up as a teacher when I'm bad with kids" she groaned.

"Hello teacher Heenim" Ryeowook said quietly from behind Jungsu's legs.

Heechul smiled at him, "Hey kiddo, first day at school are you ready?" when Ryeowook nodded she checked her list as to where he should be seated "Let's see…ah, you'll sit down next to Kibum on the third row" she said, pointing to where he would be sitting.

Ryeowook followed her finger with his eyes, his heart jumping a bit when he saw that his seatmate was already there, reading something quietly. He moved closer to his mother's leg.

"Don't worry" Heechul told him "Kibum is a really nice kid, although he's really quiet" he made a side comment that the kid acts way to mature for his age but Ryeowook didn't hear it, he was busy staring at his would-be-seatmate.

"Are you ready?" Jungsu asked again, and Ryeowook knew she meant she would be leaving. He nodded and mustered his strength not to cry as she smiled and patted him again, reminding him of her promise.

Ryeowook took another look at Heechul, who nodded at him as he made his way to his seat. He sat down as quietly as he could and tried to greet the other boy beside him "H-hello, I'm Ryeowook…" he said.

Kibum didn't move, Ryeowook was beginning to think that he became mad that he interrupted his reading when the he finally spoke "I'm Kim Kibum" he said, before going back to his book.

Ryeowook was relieved, at least the other wasn't mad at him, and he was just about to just go and bring out his coloring book when he gasped when all of a sudden, someone when to Kibum and bonked him on head.

"Kibummie!" the new comer, someone who Ryeowook couldn't tell the gender because of all the pink he had on him, had his hands on his hips and was looking at Kibum disapprovingly "What did I tell you about greeting people?" he pouted before going to Ryeowook's side of the table.

"Hello!" the boy clad in pink smiled at him. "Please don't think badly of my cousin, he's awfully shy" he giggled "especially around someone he likes"

Ryeowook blushed slightly at the words. Kibum glared at Sungmin but didn't say anything, as boy giggled and stared at him closely "Oh, I'm Sungmin, Lee Sungmin!" he says and smiles brightly at him, making him forget about being shy earlier.

"I'm Kim Ryeowook!" he says happily, as Sungmin nods in acknowledgement.

"Ohhh! I know! I'll call you Wookie! That's cute! Isn't it Kibummie?" he nudges his cousin playfully, who just turns away from them. Ryeowook was nervous, but Sungmin laughed at him. "Don't worry about him Wookie; he's just being too shy! You can call me Sungminnie by the way"

Ryeowook nodded, a bit overwhelmed as Sungmin suddenly talked about things that he learned from his dad about being in school, and their vacations, and he was about to go into telling him about his wide collection of custom made pink gundam robots when Kibum suddenly spoke "Hyung, he's not going anywhere, save your gundams for some other time"

Sungmin blushed at that, realizing he had been speaking non-stop for the last 10 minutes or so, he pouted and put out his tongue "You just want to keep him to yourself. Fine. I'm going to bother Kyuhyunnie"

Ryeowook was relieved when he walked away, not that he didn't like Sungmin, he enjoyed his company very much, although his talkative nature was something he was going to take a while to get used to, Kibum probably noticed that so he…

"I…thank you" he found himself saying to the quiet boy.

And Ryeowook found himself blushing, because Kibum had smiled softly at him. "You're welcome"

15 years later

Ryeowook smiled as he took another bite from his parfait, chuckling softly at the memory of that day, so many years ago but fresh in his mind like it was just like yesterday.

"What's so funny?" the man in front of him asked, confusion evident in his handsome features as he stared at him eating his dessert.

"Just remembered something" he said, shrugging but still smiling as he took another bite.

"Really? What?" he asked.

He blushed slightly "It's embarrassing"

Then it was his turn to chuckle at him "Really? You still have something to be embarrassed about?" he asked slyly, making Ryeowook blush even more, pouting at him.

"Babo…" he said, glaring at his boyfriend while effectively becoming cute in the other man's eyes.

"So, what did you remember?" Kibum asked again, smiling at him. Ryeowook smiled back as he whispered to him.

"I was just remembering the day I fell in love with your smile"
