Although there was a bunch of specialness, where by specialness I mean a certain amount of embarrassment, regarding timing today, which went something like this:

Me: This job application business is for the birds, I wish someone would just tell me 'here, have a job' and be done with.
Phone: [rings]
Me: Yes?
Phone: We got your application that you sent yesterday! Would you like to come to the office at 5:00pm and talk to us?
Me: Okay!
[4.40pm]
Me: Oh, look, I'm early for my interview. I guess I'll dick around on the ground floor because I cannot actually find an elevator that doesn't look like a cargo lift, and walking up 7 flights of stairs requires a certain amount of mental preparation.
Phone: [rings]
Me: Yes?
Phone: Yes, it's the people who you interviewed with on Tuesday and who said we'd get back to you by yesterday! Would you like us to give you a certain amount of money on a regular basis in exchange for services rendered?
Me: Sweet!
[5:00pm]
Them: Thanks for coming down on such short notice!
Me: My pleasure.
Them: So, we don't suppose you're currently doing anything?
Me: Well, uh, there's a bit of a funny story there...
