So I'm kind of out of touch with the Tenipuri fandom and canon lately, and I am probably happier for it (although I did flip through the chapter in Shounen Jump today and if I read it right, Tezuka's tennis jesus physics made me lol really kind of hard :<)

But sometimes what I want is some classic TezuFuji fic, although the prospect of looking for new classic tezufuji (this is not an oxymoron :() makes me kind of want to stab myself in the head.

So I wroted some! Although I would not so much call this classic TezuFuji as retarded TezuFuji, and really, not tezufuji at all.

Tezuka's return causes few ripples, as though a pebble which had been taken out of a pond had unceremoniously been tossed back in, if the pebble was actually a five-foot-something, stone-faced teenage boy. It's a little unfair, he thinks, that life settles back into place so quickly. The movements of someone like Tezuka should be accompanied by some sort of fanfare, because of the way he is and the way he carries himself, and also because Tezuka would /hate/ it. And if Tezuka was going to leave for someplace as dramatically and romantically distant as Germany, the least he could do was show it somehow. With a moustache, maybe.

What he needs is a change, Fuji thinks, or perhaps a torrid adolescent love affair. And since the rules of tennis haven't been altered since the 1890s (he looked it up on Wikipedia), and Tezuka is, well... Tezuka, the adolescent love affair it is.

Being the practical person that he is in the end, Fuji pencils it in for after their midterm evaluations.

He genuinely likes Echizen, who's never particularly gone out of his way to be likeable.

You can't be an exceptional tennis player /and/ have a good personality, Fuji theorises. It's probably something to do with brain chemistry.

-

"I think I'm having a mid-life crisis," he says seriously.

Tezuka levels him an unimpressed look, then, dry as the Sahara, "I can believe that you won't live past 30."

"That's very unkind," Fuji replies, inexplicably delighted.

ficstuff, nothing i say can salvage this
