Costume College Sewing Plans 2.0

Jun 07, 2014 23:11

So! I still owe you all (and myself) a post about my 18th century riding habit. Hopefully it will be worth the wait!

In the meantime, here are my revised plans for Costume College. :) A lot has changed!

Mostly, sarahnucci is to blame, in the best way! She said the magic words "1820s event" and I jumped. I'll be interpreting an 1820s milliner, which means I need a dress and enough accessories to have out for display. I am WAY too excited for this!

But it means scaling back my plans for CoCo, and I decided that Felicity is going to be postponed for a later date *sigh*. I also have to make two items for the class I'm teaching at CoCo...

Even with Felicity off the table, the 17th c outfit is worrying me. While it doesn't need to be done for CoCo, I'd like it to be done for the following Saturday, when I get to do an event for work. And since I'll be visiting with my family during that week interim, I don't know how much sewing I'll get done. The payre of bodies is ALMOST done (only binding left!) and the smock is next. However, because the event is for work, I can make a gown at work (understandably it will remain the property of my work) and at least have my own payre of bodies and correctly made smock to build on top of. So I may not try to get the wool satin gown done for this. Prancing around in the payre of bodies, smock, and a petticote do sound like fun, however! :)

But what to wear to the Gala instead of Felicity?

Well, I have the wickedest of plans... And it will be a complete secret until the day of! :D
