So You Want to be a Rancher?

Ennis del Mar was coming to Flint Creek for a bit of a stay. A visit and a bit of a crash course in what it takes to run a cattle ranch, even a small one such as Laine's. She was looking forward to spending time with the man, he was sweet. A bit tenderhearted but good. And he loved horses.

The athletic brunette smiled at the thought. It was always a pleasure to deal with people who already knew their way around the majestic creatures. Sure, she was an apt teacher and could get just about anyone onto a horse and situated in a saddle, but it was so much nicer to not have to worry about the animals' well-being as well as that of the rider.

Laine had spoken to her fiancé about the visit and the Irishman was more than equitable to it. They'd be gracious hosts to their guest, just as they have always been to friends and family that come by the place. Flint Creek was about as rural and secluded as you could get these days, peaceful and quiet save for the sounds of the livestock, the occasional piece of farm machinery and pick up trucks belonging to the hands that worked for Laine Anderson. She had a feeling Ennis would enjoy that aspect of the ranch as much as he might find her business lessons useful. He could let his guard down here and maybe, she thought, the slightly frazzled man could find the time to set aside a bit of worry and just relax.

With those thoughts, she set off to make sure the guest room was squared away and then intended to head down to the horse barn herself.
