[Not headed up to her room quite yet, Corinne is sitting on a couch nearby a vending machine, double-checking all of her stuff to be sure that she didn't accidentally leave anything behind. She seems a bit oblivious to nearly everything else as she does so.]

she's rooming with his sister, so why not...

[Johan enters the lounge, smoking a cigarette and not giving a damn if it's against the rules right now. He never liked France, and he isn't going to start enjoying it now. While it is easy to adjust to a few Western comforts again, he rather go back to Indonesia and live a life where he could do almost anything he wanted one way or another.

When he sees another person in the lounge, he walks over. He doesn't mean to sound unfriendly, really. While he's not outright grumpy, he's easily intimidating.]

You know where room 411 is?

[Not expecting to have been spoken to, she jumps just a little bit before quickly looking up from her belongings.]

Oh, um, well... [She's nervous; intimidation, whether it's intentional or not, isn't something she responds to particularly well.] A-actually, I'm in that room, myself.

[He can tell by that reaction he's letting his mood carry over to how he holds himself. She's still young, so he tries to be "gentler" with her. Also this is apparently Bella's roommate, and the last thing he needs is a roommate that doesn't like him.]

Sorry for startling you. My sister lives in that room, so I was just wondering. [pause.] Name's Johan, what's yours? Last time I saw my sister she looked around your age.

[Oh, this is her roommate's brother? In that case, she'll try to keep herself together here; wouldn't want to make a bad impression on someone she might end up seeing semi-regularly.]

O-oh, okay. I'm Corinne. Just... [Fumbling with her stuff for a moment.] ...let me get my things together and I could lead you there.

[He moves closer, looking at her things]

I'll carry some of your things. [And he does.]

I hate the shift key on this keyboard.

[She hadn't even asked.] Er...thank you. I-it's this way.

[Corinne leads the way toward the elevator, planning to take it up to the fourth floor rather than walking up multiple flights of stairs with all of that stuff. Probably a good choice, given the likelihood of her tripping over something along the way.]

I hate when html fails sob. also we can just assume her roommate went out for a bit.

[He just nods, not saying anything as he follows her. When they finally reach the elevator, he speaks again.]

What grade are you in?

[Pressing the elevator's button a few times to call it down, there's a very brief silence as she mentally repeats the question to herself.]

This is my second year here. [Assuming that she was enrolled as soon as possible, that would mean MS2.] You?

[Due to confusion, he thinks it's HS2, so he gives her a long look up and down.]

Same grade, but first year here.

[Which in turn confuses her.]

Huh? Really? But you look like you should be two or three years ahead of me or something...

I took a few years off from school. [Which is true, as he's 19.]

[Asking why would be a bit on the invasive side, so she refrains from doing so.]

Oh. Well, I guess that would make sense...
