CHARACTERS: Popuri, and Anyone♥ LOCATION/SETTING: School grounds, hallways mostly DATE & TIME: Sunday, Sept 18 WARNINGS: None! (unless some meanie starts cussing!) SUMMARY: Pictures of cute chickens. Lots of them...
When he sees the pictures Firo knows exactly who's responsible. He's pleased to see that his good influence on the students of Reims is already showing. And he has to admit that the little fuzzy chick, at least, is kind of a cute.
After following the pictures for a while, Firo eventually catches up to Popuri. "Nice work there. Those are yours, right?"
You probably shouldn't corrupt the innocent girl. She really thought this was a good idea too. She's a country girl... She, in a way, doesn't know any better.
But it's not like she was cluttering the walls with them... that's just silly. Just one here and there. Maybe a pair at opposite ends of a hall before it turned a corner.
"Oh! Hello Firo! Yes, these are mine. This one is Cathy, and my mom named this chick Sunshine." she says sweetly, pointing at the older chicken first, then the younger.
How can it be corruption when it means all the school will be treated to the sight of such adorable chickens? That's Firo's state of mind, and since Popuri seems pretty happy, he's only more convinced that this was a great idea. Thinking, evidently, is not his strong suit.
"Names and everything, huh?" Those are some lucky chickens. "Do they all get that big?" He points to Cathy. She looks almost twice the size of the pigeons back home.
"Wait, you sell some? Like, to be-" He remembers her reaction last time he asked about chickens being food and quickly shuts up. "Um... to be other peoples' pets? Doesn't it make it harder to give 'em away if you named 'em?" That's what he's heard from pet owners. He doesn't know for sure, having never had a pet himself.
"Are..." Even thought she mentioned their names just a moment ago, he struggles to recall them, "...Cathy and Sunny your favorites? Are you gonna get to keep 'em?"
She will giggle at you, calling them Cathy and Sunny!
"No, Pon is my favorite. They didn't take a picture of her. Or, maybe daddy thought he did, but... he really didn't! He hasn't been home in a long time, so, I'm sure he doesn't know all their names yet!"
He nods, recalling what she told him before about her father's job at Reims.
"But even if you do know all their names, isn't it hard to tell 'em apart? I mean, back home there are tons of pigeons and stuff and they all look exactly the same."
He imagines chickens would be the same way. But Firo's never actually bothered to get a good look at a pigeon, so perhaps the example doesn't apply.
He nods, "That makes sense. You probably know 'em better than anyone, huh?"
"Maybe they're different from chickens. Different species and all." Pigeons are the only bird Firo knows much about, and even that knowledge is limited. They live in his city, eat bread and sometimes are a tripping hazard. The beauty of animals is lost on him.
"They're lots different from chickens! You can't keep them as pets, and there aren't any farms for them. And you don't hear about eating pigeon eggs, do you?" Of course, she finds this totally amusing!
Firo laughs. She's right, but she does bring up an interesting thought. "I bet you could keep one as a pet if you really wanted it. Not that I know anybody who would, but all you gotta do is catch it, right?" He might just have to try that one day.

"Uh huh! We name every one! After all... not all of them get sold. We keep a lot of them to lay eggs too, so they all need to cared for."
"Oh, yes! They do! If they're smaller, they're not fully grown... or not well cared for."

"And I know sometimes we sell them off just so they're going to end up as food. I just don't like to talk about that." DEEEP breath.
"But, even some that we're going to raise to be older, we name them because we're going to have them for a while."

I... don't know about pigeons though..." She ponders it, but, she hasn't ever really seen them. No pigeons 'round her parts!

But, maybe it's like raising a chicken too! Only, you don't really get eggs from them?"

He laughs and waves his hand dismissively, "Whatever. It's not like either one of us is actually gonna try to catch one, right?"

"I don't think so. They said Pon was too big to bring as a pet... I was really sad to hear that."
